‘Descendants Of The Sun’ Director Speaks Up About Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo’s Romance, Season 2 Rumors Arise

Fans of South Korea’s hottest couple Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo still can’t get over their shocking wedding announcement as they continue to seek more details about their relationship. Recently, the director of their phenomenal drama Descendants of the Sun finally spoke up about their real-life romance.

In an interview with KBS 2TV Entertainment Weekly, Kim Si Hyung, the director of the hit series Descendants of the Sun, discussed his thoughts about the on-and-off screen love story of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo.

The award-winning director revealed that the closeness of the pair became more evident in the latter part of their production as compared to the initial phase of their shooting. He even noted that filming was a breeze after the two got closer.

“It’s true that filming got a bit easier as the two people got closer. But I had no idea they would become actual lovers.”

Many were also quick to notice the chemistry between Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo on the set of Descendants of the Sun. Apparently, the newly engaged couple realized about their feelings for each other before the hit drama launched in February 2016.

Although the two never really confirmed the endless dating rumors prior to their announcement, sources close to the couple revealed that they never really tried to hide it from people close to them.

Last week, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo surprised everyone with their wedding announcement. The couple’s respective agencies, Blossom Entertainment and United Artists Agency, issued a joint statement announcing their nuptials slated to take place later this year.

Shortly after, the Song-Song couple individually penned their heartfelt messages to their fans expressing their gratitude and apologies for keeping their romance a secret. For the first time, the two also publicly shared their deep affection for each other as a couple. They also asked for the continued support of their fans in their lifetime journey as husband and wife.

Inevitably, Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo faced various rumors after they announce their upcoming marriage. There were talks about a shotgun wedding brought by Song Hye Kyo’s alleged unplanned pregnancy, which the actress and her agency quickly dismissed.

There were also claims that Song Joong Ki already purchased their luxurious marital home in Itaewon, Seoul earlier this year.

With their romance known to the public, many are also wondering if the second season of Descendants of the Sun will finally come to fruition. The undying rumors of a new installment of the show emerged once again, this time, with more hype and intensity.

In fact, to commemorate Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo’s upcoming wedding, KBS Drama aired a marathon of Descendants of the Sun, giving their huge fanbase a chance to relive the romantic moments that started it all.

The first part of the show was aired on July 5, while the second part was released on July 6.

The re-airing of Descendants of the Sun reportedly strengthened hopes that a second season will be in the works soon, especially with the Song-Song couple’s confirmed all out romance.

There were even claims that Descendants of the Sun Season 2 might take place after the highly-anticipated wedding of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo. However, it is worth noting that such rumors are still unconfirmed, so it’s best to take it with a grain of salt.
