New Man Of Steel Poster Arrives: Superman In Shackles

New Man of Steel Poster Debuts Today

Warner Bros. rolled out a new Man of Steel poster on The Dark Knight Rises official Facebook page today.

Featuring a handcuffed Superman surrounded by a military squad — Brit actor Henry Cavill will play the titular lead — the imagery suggests this rebooted franchise will mine the darker side of heroic.

Directed by Zack Synder, there’s no way to predict what — if any — plot liberties screenwriter David Goyer may take. But with Christopher Nolan executive producing, much is expected from this team.

With previous Man of Steel teasers receiving less than rapturous reception back in July, Warner Bros. will be hoping that changes when the official full length trailer plays in theaters before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14.

At this year’s Comic-Con, Cavill spoke of wanting to:

“… Bring as much of the modern Superman into the world. You guys know everything about him. You’re there through thick and thin. This is for everyone else out there. To bring him to the modern world that everyone can associate with.”

Starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Kal-El, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Michael Shannon as General Zod, Man of Steel will be released in IMAX 3D and hits theaters on June 14, 2013.

Until then, here’s the new poster and an old teaser.

"Son, you are guilty of speeding, flying into restricted air space, and identity fraud. We're taking you in."

What? Like Superman could get arrested? He can break those cuffs and fly away anytime he wants. Unless he is going out like Hancock, it makes no sense.

@Paige Mackinley, I really wish that you and the other supposed journalists would do a little research for your articles. You state that there is "no way to predict what the storyline will be", yet for many, many months the storyline has been out there, is known, and we even know whom is playing the main villain. It is a reboot of Superman 2, featuring General Zod and co. All you have to do is look at the IMDB page to gather that much information, try doing some actual work next time…

Of course the government wants to bring him in for questioning. He's a fucking alien with powers beyond belief. Superman wants to do the right thing, so turning himself in is good form. Why in shackles? Idk, but I'm hyped for this movie.

Plot liberties are likely, if only because this is ‘Superman’ version 2013 – hence the shackles. Lets wait and see!
