Nicole Kidman’s ‘My Fair Lady’ Hat Steals The Show At Derby Day [Video]

Nicole Kidman may be playing Grace Kelly in her next movie, Grace of Monaco, but she borrowed the look of another movie icon yesterday in Australia for Derby Day. Kidman wore a huge hat that looked like it came from the set of My Fair Lady as she watched the annual race at the Flemmington race track.

According to The Australian, Kidman’s hat was designed by miliner Stephen Jones. She also wore a white lace dress that was designed by L’Wren Scott.

Kidman said that it was a deliberate choice to pay tribute to Audrey Hepburn and My Fair Lady, saying:

“It is such a fun film and it is a fun day and we just wanted to have some fun … It’s one of my favorite movies. We decided to do something that was fun and a bit different.”

Kidman attended Derby Day with her mom and dad. The actress said that Keith urban wanted to come but he was busy with the Country Music Association Awards and trick-or-treating with the kids.

Kidman said:

“I brought my mum and dad. I wish I could have brought Keith but he was at the Country Music Awards last night and taking our kids trick or treating. The Melbourne Cup is something I have always bet on since I was a legal age.”

Kidman’s trip to Australia for Derby Day was a quick one. The Oscar winning actress was in town for about 48 hours before she flew back to France to continue filming Grace of Monaco.
