‘Stranger Things’: Season 2: Air Date, New Cast Details, Who Is Coming Back?

Stranger Things is certainly coming back for Season 2, get to know the latest on the returning cast members and some exciting new characters. While an official air date is yet to be announced, an early renewal you can expect the second season to be released around the same time as the first in 2017.

In the critically acclaimed first season, Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven took down the monster from the Upside-Down world and she disappeared. It is unclear at this point whether she destroyed the monster. However, Detective Hopper hinted that Eleven is still alive by leaving her favorite snacks in the wood. Hopper also entered a car with some mysterious people and he knows something we are yet to find out.

Will Byers has been promoted to a regular cast member as he was in the Upside-down world for most of the first season. The rest of the gang — Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, and Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin — are all coming back for Season 2, according to NME.

Season 2 of Stranger Things will have a small time jump due to the rapidly maturing young cast members. The second series will take place about 12 months after the events of the first series. How will the Upside-Down world affect Will Byers? Would Eleven be the same?

In addition to the returning cast members, there are a lot of new characters coming to the mysterious town of Hawkins, Indiana.

The Stranger Things Instagram post teased that one of these new characters is the next Eleven. Sean Astin of Lord of the Rings fame has joined the cast, along with Mad About You star Paul Reiser and Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen.

Linnea will play Roman, who is a troubled young woman who has some sort of connection to the mysterious lab that was monitoring the Upside-Down world. Sean Astin will portray Bob Newby, who went to high school with Joyce, played by Winona Ryder and Hopper. Reiser will play Dr. Owens, a staffer at the Department of Energy who has to help cover up all the crazy things that occurred in Season 1.

We have some new kids joining the cast to get excited about. Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery are joining the cast as series regulars for Season 2 of Stranger Things. Sink will play Max, who is a tomboy with a complex past, while Montgomery will play Billy, an 80s cool kid that drives a Camaro. Billy will be a charismatic character with a dark side.

The Duffer Brothers have revealed that Max is a very cool character, and even has an episode presumably named after her, “MadMax.”

Dr. Martin Brenner is expected to return, which means the Demogorgon may not have killed him. Actor Brett Gelman has been cast to play a conspiracy nut and disgraced journalist. Considering what we have seen so far, the new character may not be crazy.

There is expected to be nine episodes in Stranger Things Season 2 and the Duffer brothers have plenty of material for more. Considering the popularity of the series we can expect there to be more seasons. The name of each episode is as follows.

  1. Madmax
  2. The Boy Who Came Back to Life
  3. The Pumpkin Patch
  4. The Palace
  5. The Storm
  6. The Pollywog
  7. The Secret Cabin
  8. The Brain
  9. The Lost Brother

In Stranger Things, Nancy Wheeler is expected to stay with Steve for now. However, there is still a chance that she hooks up with Jonathan. There is a lot to look forward to in the next season.
