‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Chelsea Embraces Life Without Adam — Will She Fall In Love With Nick?

Young and the Restless fans greatly miss Adam Newman (formerly Justin Hartley) on the CBS soap opera. The viewers had hoped Justin Hartley would return to the daytime drama, if only for a short stint to give the fans some closure about Adam’s apparent death in the fiery explosion.

As it turns out, Justin closed the door to returning to The Young and the Restless, so at least for now, Adam will not be returning to the show, TV Insider reported. That leaves Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) with the difficult task of moving on without her husband and putting her faith in Adam’s brother, Nick (Joshua Morrow), for support as she tries to move on. Will Nick and Chelsea fall in love as they try to move on without Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Adam?

Adam Is Gone

Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Chelsea hasn’t really accepted that Adam is dead and that he’s not coming back. In Chelsea’s mind, she believes that her husband will come back to her, and she isn’t ready to accept that he’s gone for good. Adam returned so many times before when he was believed to be dead, who can blame her for holding on to the notion that he will come back again?

Young and the Restless head writer Sally Sussman revealed that at least for now, Adam is dead. They will bring him back at some point, but for now, they see no need to bring him back so soon.

Chelsea Embraces Life Without Adam

ABC Soaps In Depth reports that soap operas tend to move forward after a character’s death too quickly. Melissa Claire Egan told the magazine that The Young and the Restless did an excellent job of showing the raw emotions a wife would have about losing her best friend and soul mate.

“Chelsea and Adam were such an important couple, so we didn’t want to move on too quickly,” Melissa Claire Egan explained. “But I think the writers have been doing an excellent job with that. They are showing a woman being strong for the sake of her son, putting one foot in front of another, with friendships building. I think they are doing it in a healthy and respectful way to the coupling of Chadam.”

Chelsea Falls In Love With Nick?

Egan is such a talented actress that it doesn’t matter who she works with — she will create sparks with them. Chelsea and Nick have a strong bond, one that began as a result of losing Sage and Adam. They didn’t have anyone to talk to about their loss, so they confided in each other. It helped them move on and possibly fall in love with each.

Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Sharon senses that her ex-husband, Nick, may be inching toward a relationship with former con artist Chelsea. She decided to confront her and let her know that she is on to her and knows that she is “in love with Nick.” Her comment blindsided Chelsea, and she began to think about whether she could be developing romantic feelings for him.

“Chelsea and Nick don’t know each other as lovers, so this is territory that neither one has explored,” Egan stated. “That makes it unknown, and unexpected for us as actors, and for the audience, it’s exciting to see what could happen next.”

Young and the Restless spoilers tease that when and if Chelsea and Nick hook up, they have a bomb ready to go off about Christian’s real paternity, which could blow up their relationship before it gets started.
