Selena Gomez And Niall Horan Reportedly Spotted At The AMAs Nearly One Year After Dating Rumors

Selena Gomez and Niall Horan were reportedly seen together at last night’s 2016 American Music Awards event in Los Angeles.

Nearly one year after the musicians were romantically linked to one another, a report claimed Selena Gomez and Niall Horan met backstage during the awards show and shared an “adorable moment” with one another after his performance of his new single, “This Town.”

“[Selena Gomez] looked gorgeous and really happy,” an on-site reporter revealed to Hollywood Life on November 20. “She congratulated [Niall Horan] in his ‘incredible’ performance. Then her team took her into a dressing room. And they hugged one more time.”

Selena Gomez’s appearance during Sunday’s 2016 American Music Awards marked the first time she’s been seen or heard from since she announced her struggles with anxiety, depression and panic attacks.

According to the report, Selena Gomez and the One Direction singer were rumored to have embarked on a short-lived romance with one another at the end of last year, but by February of this year, things between them had cooled off.

In December 2015, Selena Gomez and Niall Horan sparked romance rumors after attending The X-Factor finale party, where they were allegedly caught kissing one another.

“They spent the entire night locked together and were very touchy-feely,” an insider told The Sun. “They kissed in a corridor. There is no doubt there is something going on between them.”

As for why things went south between Selena Gomez and Niall Horan, a source claimed it was Gomez who chose to pump the breaks on their relationship.

“The reason why everything cooled was because [Selena Gomez] didn’t want to take anything further,” an insider revealed to Hollywood Life at the time. “Niall really was happy when they hooked up but now realizes it was a drunk hookup night that didn’t do anything more because [Selena Gomez] didn’t want it.”

“He would have liked it to have been something, but now that time has passed he realizes a relationship with [Selena Gomez] will never happen,” the source continued in February. “And being her friend is an ok landing spot. He is not heartbroken, just disappointed that it never had the chance to be more.”

In addition to their alleged backstage hug, Us Weekly claimed Selena Gomez and Niall Horan also came face-to-face when Horan applauded his rumored flame for her acceptance speech after she won the award for Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist.

“You did so good!” he reportedly told her.

In August, Selena Gomez announced she would be taking some time off to address her mental struggles, which she claimed were the result of her lupus diagnosis. In a statement to People Magazine, Gomez confirmed she was canceling her “Revival World Tour” to focus on her health and future happiness.

One year after revealing she was suffering from lupus, the magazine told readers Selena Gomez would be taking a “year-long” break following the conclusion of her tour. Selena Gomez also thanked her fans for their support and hoped her revelation about lupus would encourage others to face their own struggles head-on.

About two months after Selena Gomez confirmed the end of her “Revival World Tour,” Us Weekly shared details regarding Gomez’s reported stay at a rehab center outside of Nashville, Tennessee. According to the magazine, the facility was private and quiet, but super intense.

After entering rehab months ago, Selena Gomez has been spending time with her family and in addition to enjoying a breakfast with her grandparents, the singer was spotted having dinner with her mom and stepdad at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in the area.
