Brad Pitt Cleared In Child Abuse Case

Brad Pitt has been cleared in the FBI investigation that was filed on the grounds of child abuse after the FBI announced that the investigation was closed and no charges would be filed.

Brad Pitt was under fire after an incident with his eldest son Maddox while the family was on a private trip. Pitt’s ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, filed for divorce the next day after the incident, citing irreconcilable differences. The investigation was then launched after the incident on the private plane. The Department of Children and Family Services launched a probe into the matter a few weeks ago. The DCFS, however, cleared Pitt of any charges earlier this month. The FBI cleared Pitt of any charges on Tuesday and announced the conclusion of the investigation.

“In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation. No charges have been filed in this matter,” FBI spokespersons revealed.

The FBI visited Jolie’s residence where it conducted interviews for a few hours. The investigator spoke to potential witnesses including some of Pitt and Jolie’s children. Other witnesses were also questioned including the flight crew that was on the plane when the incident took place. Pitt has only been allowed to see his children twice since Angelina filed for divorce in September. Maddox was notably absent during the two visits and one of the sources familiar with the matter reported that he was absent because he was still angry at his dad.

Federal investigators were involved in the case because the incident took place on a private plane, thus giving them jurisdiction. Luckily for Pitt, the investigation has been closed and no charges have been filed. It is not clear whether the investigation will have an impact on the custody dealings. As of the latest agreement, the former couple’s six children will remain in custody of their mother. Pitt had requested joint custody but Angelina was in pursuit of sole physical custody.

The odds were not in Pitt’s favor since he was still under investigation. The children are in Jolie’s custody though Pitt gets to have therapeutic visits to see the children as revealed by Jolie’s representatives. It is not clear whether Brad will still pursue joint custody now that the investigation has been dropped and no charges have been filed. However, chances are that if he did, it would most likely be considered.

Pitt and Angelina’s divorce came as a shock because it was unexpected and they were one of Hollywood’s hottest couple. They have been together since 2004 after a romance developed between them during their acting careers. The ex-couple has a total of six children including adopted ones. During the time they were together, Pitt and Jolie made high-profile appearances and they became the envy of most since they were considered the perfect Hollywood couple. It was thus shocking when news broke that there was trouble in paradise.

Both Angelina and Pitt have tried as much as possible to maintain a low profile after the divorce. However, Pitt was spotted at a red carpet where he showed up for his film, Allied. Fans asked him a few questions to which he stopped and released a small statement.

“Everyone has been really kind out here. It’s really nice to have all the support,” Pitt stated.

The famous actor did not say anything about the investigation. Pitt’s representatives have not made any comments about the charges being dropped though the FBI stated that it has closed the investigation.
