Does Kate Middleton Secretly Regard Prince Harry’s New Lady Love Meghan Markle As A Terrifying Threat?

It would appear Kate Middleton many soon be forced to pass her glamor queen crown to a fellow commoner. That is if Prince Harry’s new lady love, Meghan Markle, persuades her new royal beau to do the honorable thing and put a ring on it.

Just imagine: The world’s most eligible bachelor and blue-blooded Windsor marrying an American actress and — whisper it — divorcee.

Not since King Edward VIII abdicated his throne to get hitched with American socialite Wallis Simpson has there been a royal relationship so potentially epic in its promise of breaking new ground and throwing convention to the four winds.

When it was announced that “lowly commoner” Kate Middleton was going to marry balding heartthrob Prince William, there was an unspoken recognition that the future King of England was, at last, breaking down barriers and moving with the times by marrying different stock to what one would usually expect a royal to breed with.

Some were aghast at the mere thought of one of God’s chosen few getting hitched with a member of the “bundled and botched” club.

Writing in the Washington Post, staunch royalist James Whitaker snapped, “I’m not against the middle class as such, but I do query whether Kate Middleton has the background and breeding to be queen one day.”

TV pundits and columnists everywhere appeared to take some sort of perverse delight dubbing Middleton as a “commoner.”

Yet as Kate Middleton and her family have proven time and time again, you underestimate a tenacious social climber at your peril.

And as all thoughts turn to Meghan Markle, one can only imagine the collective dismay of the old-school gentry if Prince Harry wed “the American” and welcomed some new blood into the Windsor clan.

Yet, the gnawing question on every fashionista’s surgically enhanced lips is, “Will the Duchess of Cambridge view Markle as a friend or foe?”

On paper, at least, the two glamor dolls would presumably get on famously together. Both share a love of high-street fashion, both are keen to be associated with humanitarian causes, both appear to be the sort of woman who would own a pet bunny rabbit, and both are thoroughly common, in a non-royal sense that is.

And although Kensington Palace has yet to release a statement confirming the two have met, a source told New Zealand’s Woman’s Day that the Duchess of Cambridge is reported to be “thrilled” over Harry and Meghan’s relationship.

“Kate is thrilled that Harry has finally found a girlfriend who looks like being a keeper.”

Yet, we all know how these unspecified sources have a habit of leaving a nasty taste in one’s mouth, and although one would not wish to speculate, perhaps there is a small, dare we say base part of Kate Middleton, buried deep within her commoner DNA that regards Meghan Markle as a threat who will upstage her in every possible way conceivable.

The International Business Times reported that “Markle has already been spotted wearing a dress from one of Kate Middleton’s favorite designers, Diane von Furstenberg (DVF), along with a similar preened aesthetic to the duchess, in the winter of 2012.”

Are we veering into the twisted territory of the celebrity stalker here? Fat chance! But Meghan Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Grant, did recently claim in a newspaper interview that her sister always harbored ambitions to bag a royal and become a princess.

“It was always her ambition to become a princess. It was something she dreamed of as a girl when we watched the royals on TV.”

Good grief! It would appear in Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton has a true contender for her crown in every sense of the world. Keep your eyes open, folks. It could get interesting.
