‘South Park’ Honey Boo Boo Parody: June Shannon Thinks Episode Was ‘Trashy’

June Shannon Responds To South Park

Honey Boo Boo’s mom June Shannon wasn’t overly impressed with the recent South Park parody that poked fun at her family, The Huffington Post explains. During an interview with TMZ, June Shannon fired back at show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, describing their jokes as “trashy.” Given how mean South Park can be towards those they’re lampooning, some would say that Honey Boo Boo and her family got off lightly.

“Me being a big person, I didn’t take offense … that show is just not a show that I would want to be on in the first place,” June Shannon explained to the website. “Just the way they portrayed the show … it was kinda trashy.”

If you skipped the Honey Boo Boo episode of South Park, then you missed out on the show’s portrayal of the popular reality television family. In the clip you see embedded below, Honey Boo Boo ends up with a bad heart and needs to have a transplant. Instead of getting an organ from another human being, June Shannon takes her to a farm to select her very own pig heart.

June Shannon and the Honey Boo Boo clan aren’t the only ones with a bone to pick with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. According to The Wrap, the duo is currently being sued over the King Lollipop character that has appeared on three episode of the award-winning animated program. The Lollipop Forest mastermind Exavier Wardlaw claims the pair stole the character from his own TV show.

“The ‘South Park’ television show and its producers, directors and writers disregarded the public copyright notice and appropriated ‘The Lollipop Forest’ for financial gain, without permission or attribution of authorship or compensation for use,” the lawsuit explains. “The ‘South Park’ television broadcast diminished/tarnished the value of ‘The Lollipop Forest’ as a wholesome family show by association within the context of unwholesome language and sexual innuendo.”

Do you agree that the Honey Boo Boo episode of South Park was trashy?

Well, it’s safe to say that South Park hasn’t lost its talent at upsetting tons of people; it wouldn’t be funny otherwise! I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to watching the Honey Boo Boo episode yet. I recorded it though, so I plan to get to it ASAP! I’m just glad that I don’t have to worry about the episode getting erased to make room for something else, since my Hopper DVR’s huge memory space can house old and new recordings. I can’t wait to tell my buddies from my office at DISH that June called South Park trashy! The irony of it all is so funny!

ummm.. Yes.. it WAS trashy.. but look at the SUBJECT matter. Hard to make that look CLASSY isn't it? Also.. South Park is parody and satire. Sadly Honey Boo Boo is a stark and sickening reality.

If it was trashy it was only because they were making fun of a trashy family. I laughed so hard I almost puked lolz.

it was CLASSIC south park! I agree that it was "considered" trashy, cause everyone on that 'honey boo boo' show is trashy. its jus sad to see people enjoying the expense of these rednecks. I used to be slightly obese when I was HS and I hated being made fun of! the fact that it seems to be "ok to be fat and ugly" is bullcrap! F**K honey boo boo and everyone on that show! LONG LIVE SOUTH PARK!
