CM Punk To Be The Pre-Order Bonus For ‘WWE 2K18’? Here Are Four WWE Legends Who Could Be The Bonus For Next Year’s Game

With the exception of Arnold Schwarzenegger as “The Terminator” in WWE 2K16, 2K Sports has provided WWE fans with some pretty good pre-order bonus characters in recent years, as wrestling legends such as Sting, The Ultimate Warrior, and, most recently, Bill Goldberg have given pro wrestling fans an incentive to pre-order 2K’s annual WWE game.

Predicting the pre-order bonus will begin to get harder as the years go on, simply because there really aren’t a whole lot of options out there. The pre-order bonus has to be a huge name that hasn’t appeared in WWE or in its annual video game for several years.

There’s already talk of a huge WWE legend being next year’s pre-order bonus, and if that rumor doesn’t turn out to be true, there’s a few different directions 2K could go. What are they? Well, that’s what we’re here to talk about!

  • Owen Hart

Owen Hart still isn’t a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, mostly because of his widow Martha who is still holding a grudge against WWE because of her husband’s tragic accident which led to his death in 1999. But, despite Martha being against WWE doing anything with Owen, they did recently put out a DVD covering his career, and the next step could be to make him the pre-order bonus of the WWE 2K18 video game.

Of course, if Owen were to be featured in next year’s game, it wouldn’t lead to a physical return to the ring. But, it could and probably would, lead to him finally being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

  • Chyna

Chyna tragically passed away earlier this year at the age of 46, and she had been on bad terms with WWE for quite some time before her passing. But, WWE didn’t ignore her death. In fact, they paid tribute to her on Monday Night Raw, and both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon said that she’ll eventually go into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Like with Owen Hart, WWE could reintroduce Chyna to their fans by making her the pre-order bonus for WWE 2K18, which would lead to her taking her rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame.

  • CM Punk

This would be a tough one, but stranger things have happened.

When a WWE star from the past agrees to be involved in the 2K video game, they only deal with 2K, and they never speak to anyone from WWE. Of course, 2K isn’t allowed to feature anyone in the game without WWE’s blessing, which could be something that gets in the way of CM Punk being involved in next year’s game.

WWE fans have been dying to see CM Punk come back ever since he left the company in January of 2014, but as of this writing, the former pro wrestler turned mixed martial artist still isn’t interested in coming back. But, would he at least be a part of the video game? If the right offer was made, then he probably would be. It would also probably make WWE 2K18 the hottest wrestling video game since WWF No Mercy was released in 2000.

  • Kurt Angle

As mentioned in the intro, there is a rumor going around that 2K is planning on making a huge WWE legend the pre-order bonus for WWE 2K18 and that legend is none other than Kurt Angle.

Angle has been away from WWE for a little over a decade, but it’s looking like he’ll be returning to the company at some point next year. Who knows? Maybe he’ll follow what Bill Goldberg is doing and make his in-ring return at next year’s Survivor Series event after the game is released.

On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked if 2K was planning on making Kurt Angle the pre-order bonus for WWE 2K18, and Meltzer answered that question by simply saying “the answer to that question is yes.” So, it looks like we could see our “Olympic Hero” make his return to WWE, at least in digital form, next year.
