“As a movie fan, I am thrilled to take audiences along on the visual journey of Doctor Strange and give them an early peek at what we’ve been working on,” says director Scott Derrickson. “The completed film will feature more than an hour of specially formatted IMAX sequences that will provide audiences with a totally immersive—and mind-blowing—film-going experience and I’m excited to share a taste of that with our fans on 10/10.”

Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, and Scott Adkins, with Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton.

According to Marvel, Stephen Strange was born in 1930, was beset by demons controlled by apprentice sorcerer at age 8 (he was later rescued by the apprentice’s mentor (the Ancient One), was inspired to become a doctor at age 11, failed to save his friend Donna from drowning at age 19, earned his medical degree in record time and became quite arrogant. We don’t know how much of that will be shown in the new Doctor Strange movie, but we do know a few things.

Dr. Stephen Strange will be involved in a terrible car accident which renders his hands as useless. While leaning on traditional medicine and procedures, Strange will be disappointed greatly when he learns that science has failed him. Out of desperation, Stephen travels to a “mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj” where his hands are not only healed, but he is given mysterious powers as well. He is then tasked with deciding if he wants to go back to his old life as a world-class surgeon or use his new powers for even greater good by becoming the “most powerful sorcerer in existence” which would look really good on his resume as well.

Baron Mordo is usually known as an adversary of Doctor Strange in the comic books, but according to Newsarama, he will be featured in the new movie as an ally and fellow student of the Ancient One. He is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. Mads Mikkelsen will be playing Kaecilius, one character that even some hardcore fans are unfamiliar with. In one of the earliest Doctor Strange comic books, Kaecilius was seen as a henchman for Baron Mordo. His character has not made an appearance in the comic books for 34 years.
