One Direction And Zayn Malik Headed To Court: The Best Fan Reactions

One Direction is all set to reunite with former band member Zayn Malik, but the reunion won’t be happening on stage. The band is headed to the Irish High Court. Last week, Irish singer and songwriter David Lewis sued One Direction as well as their long-time collaborators Jamie Scott, John Ryan, and Julian Bunetta, J-14 reports.

Bunetta, Ryan, and Scott have co-written many of One Direction’s most popular songs from their most recent three albums, including singles “Story of My Life,” “No Control,” “Drag Me Down,” “Perfect,” and “Midnight Memories.” It has not yet been reported which song(s) One Direction is headed to court over.

While the reason for the court date is unknown, it is likely that David Lewis is suing for plagiarism. Recently, many singers including Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande have been sued for copyright infringement due to their music sounding too similar to another artist’s.

Just after the news about One Direction going to court dropped, member Louis Tomlinson tweeted a message of love to the fans.

While it’s expected that some fans would be distressed over the One Direction court drama, most are simply amused by the whole situation. Some were even delighted, especially by the fact that a court date means that One Direction will have to reunite with Zayn since they haven’t exactly been on good terms.

Despite leaving the group, Zayn doesn’t seem to have gotten over One Direction. Malik is embarking on not one, but two One Direction-related projects.

Instead of working on music, Zayn will be working on a television show and an upcoming memoir. CNN reports that Zayn will be collaborating with Law and Order producer Dick Wolf to create Boys, a drama that will chronicle “the highs and lows of a wildly successful boy band.” Zayn will doubtless use his experiences with One Direction to inform his work on Boys.

According to the New York Daily News, Zayn is working on a tell-all book, due out November 1, that will expose many of One Direction’s best-kept secrets.

“This book is going to be explosive and Simon Cowell will be furious with Zayn and may even try to stop it coming out. But Zayn is determined to reveal the secrets behind the clean image that was always so fiercely protected by the band’s publicity machine.”

With all of this band conflict, how could fans not be curious about the One Direction court appearance? The news saw an explosion of fan-related activity, with fans making thousands of One Direction-related memes and jokes.

Some fans treated the One Direction court appearance as if it were simply a stop on the reunion tour since it’s likely to be the only time fans will get to see the boys together anytime soon.

Many fans were amused by the thought of One Direction facing Zayn again, especially after negative comments made by both sides.

Fans were quick to resurface images of One Direction wearing all-orange outfits at their Amsterdam performance during the Take Me Home Tour, noting their resemblance to prisoners.

One Direction and Zayn have actually been arrested before, in music videos. Their music video for “Kiss You” showed the One Direction boys dancing in a jail cell while wearing striped shirts, an homage to Elvis Presley’s song “Jailhouse Rock.”

Many fans seemed to feel that the One Direction court appearance meant the band would be getting their comeuppance. One Direction’s meteoric rise to fame and countless unexplained scandals have caused some to be suspicious of the band.

Tumblr user horsensharry took the opportunity to make a list of “f*cked up 1D things,” citing many suspicious events in the band’s history that went without explanation. The list included, “when zayn literally left the band and they just posted a fb status like oh btw lol,” “when zayn literally left the band and none of them mentioned it for like 6 months afterwards,” and “when they were like we’re breaking up but not really breaking up but we’re kind of breaking up but also not really.”

Maybe the One Direction court appearance will finally make the boys answer for their behavior.
