‘Below Deck’ Kate Chastain Speaks Out On Ex-Girlfriend Ro And Having Ramona Singer As Charter Guest

On Tuesday night, after Episode 2 of Below Deck Season 4 aired, Kate Chastain appeared on Andy Cohen’s talk show Watch What Happens Live alongside The Real Housewives of New York City star LuAnn de Lesseps. During the talk show, Kate was asked about what’s going on between her and Rocio “Ro” Hernandez, with whom she’s shown having a relationship with on the current episodes. On a lighter note, Kate also revealed that she has served some of the New York City housewives on charters, including Ramona Singer and LuAnn.

A viewer called in and asked Kate about her legal drama with Ro and whether they’re still together or have any other kind of relationship, such as a friendship. Unfortunately for viewers who want all of the juicy gossip, Kate said that she can’t really talk about the case that’s happening involving her and Ro on the advice of her lawyers.

Kate did, however, admit that she considers her relationship with Ro a mistake by saying that she has very bad taste in romantic partners. Kate also hinted that the legal case is going in her favor, or at least that she’s optimistic that it’ll turn out in her favor, by declaring that she has great taste in attorneys.

“As much as I would love to speak about this and I’ve wanted to for a while, I’ve been advised not to cause it’s still pending, but I’ll just say that I have dangerously bad taste in romantic partners but luckily I have impeccable taste in attorneys.”

Andy Cohen laughed upon hearing Kate’s statement and said that he assumes Kate’s no longer with Ro.

“No,” Kate confirmed.

Kate went public with her relationship with Ro in January. Kate, who had a fling with chef Ben Robinson on Season 2 of Below Deck and continued flirting with him for a bit in Season 3, told Bravo’s the Daily Dish that she’s just as surprised as everyone else that she’s in a relationship with a woman.

“I think everybody’s just as surprised as I am by the photos. You know, I am currently dating a girl. She’s amazing. I never, ever imagined myself dating a girl. I never was attracted to girls. So I’m a little caught off guard, but she’s just a really special person. We met just met in our hometown at a bar one night and started chatting. I thought she was really cool, and I never thought it would ever lead to anything romantic and then just over time it did.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kate Chastain was arrested in June after an altercation with her then-girlfriend, professional soccer player Rocio “Ro” Hernandez. Kate was charged with a felony domestic violence charge of battery by strangulation. Kate allegedly bit Ro on multiple areas of the body, put a knee to her head, and tried to choke her. Kate was released from jail after getting her mugshot taken and posting a $5,000 bond.

Kate’s former Below Deck co-star Raquel “Rocky” Dakota, with whom she clashed with throughout Season 3, immediately poked fun of Kate’s arrest with several tweets and Instagram posts. Rocky even compared Kate to Hannibal Lecter and taunted Captain Lee Rosbach for having believed in Kate. As the Inquisitr reported, Captain Lee did not find Rocky’s social media posts very funny. He chided Rocky for posting such things and reminded viewers that there are always two sides of the story and to not condemn Kate without knowing all of the facts.

On the Season 4 premiere episode that aired last week, Kate, who has starred on the show since Season 2, was the first to arrive on the yacht and meet up with Captain Lee. When informed that she was going to have two new stewardesses working under her, Kate, the chief stew, said that while it’s nerve-wracking to be working with two new stews, anything’s easier than working with Raquel “Rocky” Dakota.

The next to arrive was Kelley Johnson, who returned from the second season to work as the bosun. Upon seeing Kelley, Kate told him that she’s in a relationship with a woman. Kate explained that Ro is a professional athlete who’s the first woman she has been with romantically. Kate commented that she’s in “sexual limbo, and not in a fun way.”

After Ben Robinson’s arrival as the chef, he admitted that he found it odd for a 32-year-old woman who was completely heterosexual before to all of a sudden be with another woman. Yet, later on, Ben does admit that Kate seems really happy and that he could have never given her such happiness.

During Kate’s appearance on Watch What Happens Live, another viewer called in and asked her which of the stars from The Real Housewives of New York City she would dread having on as a yacht guest. Kate revealed that she has actually served both Ramona Singer and LuAnn de Lesseps. Kate nominated Sonja Morgan as the housewife she would dread having on the most.

“Actually I’ve had Ramona on board in 2008 in Sag Harbor. She was just like she is on the show [laughs]. And I’ve seen you [LuAnn] on a yacht and you were graceful and lovely. Um, I guess Sonja I wouldn’t be able to predict so that’s what I would be afraid of. Unpredictable is hard for me.”

When Andy Cohen said that he thinks Ramona is unpredictable, both LuAnn and Kate said that she’s entirely predictable. Kate commented that all one needs to make Ramona happy is pinot grigio and music.

Perhaps Bravo should test whether Kate Chastain would actually be able to handle Sonja Morgan as a charter guest by having the women of The Real Housewives of New York City on a Season 5 episode of Below Deck? A Real Housewives and Below Deck crossover has happened before, when, on Below Deck’s third season, Atlanta housewives Cynthia Bailey and Claudia Jordan chartered a short trip.
