Kim Kardashian Credits 70-Lb Weight Loss To High Protein Diet, Fitness, And Secret Weapon

Kim Kardashian of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame welcomed her son, Saint, into the world in December. Now, just months later, Kardashian is flaunting her whittled waistline and hourglass figure after shedding 70 pounds. The celebrity weight loss winner isn’t hiding her secrets, however, and Kim has described just how she did it, from her intense exercise regime to her Atkins diet, noted Reveal.

When Kardashian started on her weight loss journey, she confessed feeling worried that she would never restore her pre-baby body.

“There was definitely a moment when I looked in the mirror and I was like, ‘I am never going to be the same!'”

The mom of Saint and North at one point didn’t even want to show her body to her husband, Kanye West.

“My butt was huge,” recalled Kim. “I would walk backwards so he couldn’t see!”

But she focused on her weight loss program and expressed pride in her accomplishments.

“I worked my a** off,” summed up Kardashian. “I’ve altered my life and I’m proud of that.”

To achieve her weight loss goals, Kim chose the Atkins diet, which features protein and healthy fats while restricting carbohydrates. Her food plan typically totals 1,500 to 1,800 calories daily. And the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is candid in admitting she isn’t perfect.

“You do get comfortable and then you start to get off track, but I’ve kind of like pumped it up a little bit, just started to stay focused and follow the Atkins diet again,” noted Kardashian.

She also has literally pumped it by working with fitness trainers. Don Brooks worked with her sister Kourtney as well as Kim, and starting at 6 a.m. daily helps Kardashian fit in routines that include boxing. Harley Pasternak also has provided fitness training for the reality TV star.

“Kim likes to try different workouts so she doesn’t get bored. That way, she keeps it fresh,” noted the celebrity fitness trainer.

Kardashian also posted on Instagram that she has created her own workout: bikini tennis.

In addition, cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Simon Ourian worked with Kardashian to tighten her skin with the use of a non-surgical laser treatment. The treatment reportedly is designed to minimize loose skin on the abdomen as well as reducing wrinkles and fine lines elsewhere.

Kardashian and some of her sisters use waist trainers, with Kim candid on social media on using the garment to whittle her waistline.

“You guys, doesn’t my waist look photoshopped? It’s so crazy! It’s getting small!”

However, not everyone believes that waist training really works to achieve the goal, and Teen Vogue reports that some are concerned about the safety aspects, citing Dr. Dyan Hes, M.D., a pediatrician and the medical director of Gramercy Pediatrics in New York City.

The pediatrician is concerned that MRI scans of women sporting waist trainers have revealed that the impact can cause all types of potential problems, ranging from heartburn to stomach ulcers.

“The constant compression can cause a lot of problems,” cautioned Dr. Hes. “There are stories about waist trainers fracturing ribs, but the force of this device isn’t powerful enough to fracture bones. However, the compression on the lungs makes it harder to breathe.”

But Kardashian also has a secret weapon beyond waist trainers, diet, and even working out with a celebrity personal trainer. And that’s the other weight loss winner in the family, her sister Khloe Kardashian.

Kim enlisted Khloe’s help when she hit a plateau in her weight loss, according to Wonderwall.

“It’s impossible,” said Kim about trying to get past her plateau. “Khloe has this fitness emergency kit that she’s made and created herself.”

The fitness emergency kit is a backpack that, just like Santa Claus’ pack of goodies, is filled with all sorts of items.

“It’s a backpack full of these things and one of them is a sweat suit that she made that makes you sweat,” explained Kardashian. “And there’s this workout band and these workout things. She literally dropped it off yesterday because I was like, ‘I’ve gotta just lose these last 5 pounds,’ so I’m just going to follow Khloe’s lead.”

For those who wish they could try out that weight loss weapon for themselves, Kim also revealed that her sister has a plan to market her fitness emergency kit.
