WWE News: Seth Rollins Says The Fans Let Him Down At ‘SummerSlam’

Last night, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor battled for the new WWE Universal Championship at Summerslam. The match was a great one, probably the second best match of the night after the John Cena vs. AJ Styles match. However, many fans at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn were busy yelling taunts at the design of the new Universal title belt, something that really rubbed Seth Rollins the wrong way.

Seth Rollins took to Twitter to complain about the reaction of the fans to something he feels should never have overshadowed the match between him and Balor. According to Seth, the most important thing is what the title represents to the men who are fighting over it, not what the belt looks like. Rollins then said that Brooklyn let him down last night.

The match was a huge one of the new era of the WWE. Finn Balor had remained in NXT for a long time, longer than many people feel he should have as he helped to solidify that brand. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Triple H held off on sending Balor to the main roster, despite Vince McMahon wanting him called up sooner. Triple H was impressed with Finn and wanted him to be something special when he arrived.

That happened because Finn Balor won a four-man match and then pinned Roman Reigns clean on his very first night on WWE Monday Night Raw. That earned him the spot at SummerSlam against Seth Rollins for the new WWE Universal Championship. Then, Finn Balor not only beat Seth for the title, but Balor won the match cleanly in the middle of the ring. It was a huge endorsement of Finn and proof that the new era was here to stay.

Sadly, it may not last for long. The Inquisitr reported that Finn Balor might have suffered an injury in his match with Seth Rollins. Balor was seen with a sling on his arm after Summerslam and WWE rumors indicate that the injury may be severe enough that Finn will need surgery on his arm. He had an examination on the arm scheduled for today and also appeared on Good Morning America today with Charlotte, and was not sporting a sling.

If Finn Balor is hurt, the most obvious choice is to put the Universal title back on Seth Rollins. He is already a two-time WWE champion, although Rollins lost the second title very quickly to Dean Ambrose, who cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to capture the belt. Rollins is one of the biggest stars on WWE Monday Night Raw outside of Brock Lesnar. Seth would be a great champion until Balor makes his return if the Finn Balor injury is that serious.

That alone makes Seth Rollins a perfect person to step up and admonish the crowd for their disrespect last night during his match with Finn Balor. When fans start to chant about the design of the belt, they are not respecting the match that is taking place in the ring. It is sad, and both Seth and Finn deserve to be frustrated when that happens to them.

The Finn Balor win was the big moment of the night. No complaints about the color of a belt should diminish what Finn has accomplished since coming up to the main roster, or the hard work that Seth Rollins has put into this huge WWE feud.
