‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3’: Final DLC Aims To Bring Zombies Story To A Close

Fans of the Call of Duty series will be happy to know that the next DLC will finally wrap up the Zombies story.

The most recent expansion for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is Descent, and it contains four new maps. Additionally, Descent is said to deliver a new zombies experience for the players to engage in. Players new and old have been able to enjoy the zombie portion of Call of Duty for a while now, and it appears that the story for this mode has been ongoing. In a report by Gamespot, we see that the story will come to a close with the final DLC that will launch later in the year.

Developer Treyarch’s senior executive producer Jason Blundell has teased information on the next expansion for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. The story for these expansions originates from the 2008 title Call of Duty: World at War.

Why is this such a big deal? Naturally, those who’ve invested so much time in the game want answers for the work that they’ve put in. Blundell weighed in on the matter, having this to say in regards to how he has chosen to proceed with the story in the past.

“At the end of Black Ops 2, I think I enraged the community some when I put in this video that showed Samantha in a house with a boy called Edward. They were playing with zombie toys. Then an alarm goes off and you hear Max’s voice calling them down to the basement. The characters say, ‘I wish our heroes in our stories were real.’ Then we dropped to black. That was the end of Black Ops 2. People lost their s***.”

Aware of how fan reception began to pour in, Blundell continued to address the direction of the story’s execution.

“I’ve still technically to this day not answered that question of what that was and why that was there. That will be answered by the end of DLC 4. I believe that the ending of DLC 4 will spark emotion in the players, which is my goal. It’s not out of the desire for trolling, as people say. No, what I want to do is have you have complex and differing thoughts on what you’ve experienced and what your view is. I hope that’s what we generate when we come to the end of DLC 4.”

The decisions behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and its Zombies DLC appears to be quite secretive. A report by Twinfinite notes that while the DLC is a group effort, there aren’t many who know what will happen in the story. There are unanswered questions, and Blundell mentions that fans aren’t the only ones who are kept out of the loop.

“We have a level of paranoia which is probably unhealthy actually. There’s just so limited information that we share, either out on the floor or through Activision. We keep it quite tight-lipped. First of all, it’s crazy and we don’t want them to put us in insane asylums. But second of all, just to control the information about the kind of craziness that we do.”

With this type of secrecy, it’s understandable that Call of Duty has been kept under wraps in regards to the story and how it will come to a close. There is no specific date for when the final DLC for Black Ops 3 will be released. Still, fans can look forward to ending the Zombies campaign on a good note.
