Alicia Vikander? And ?Michael Fassbender’s Chemistry Is Phenomenal

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender have been dating since 2014, though there were rumors of the two being romantically involved for several months. Fassbender, 39, and Vikander, 27, finally confirmed their relationship to the public without having to say a word. They shared a kiss earlier this year at the Academy Awards and after that, there was no going back.

Alicia and Michael are starring in a new film together, titled The Light Between Oceans, their first project together. So far, they’re already miles ahead of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who – after forming a relationship following the release of Mr. and Mrs. Smith – did not appear in a film together for nearly a decade.

The Light Between Oceans, based on the novel by M.L. Stedman, is being released this September. Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender are gearing up for the press tour for the film and talked about the first night they met. Apparently, Vikander and Fassbender’s chemistry was just off the charts.

“We had met at Toronto Film Festival and just on the dance floor,” Vikander told ET Canada. Fassbender added, “I thought [I was a good dancer] until she started dancing and then I felt like I had two left feet.”

The two met during rehearsals for The Light Between Oceans in 2014. Michael and Alicia play a husband and wife raising a baby they discovered on an adrift rowboat. According to Fassbender, their incredible chemistry “was sort of there from the beginning.” Though during the interview, neither one of them admits that they’re dating.

As previously mentioned, the Fassbender and Vikander relationship seemed to be confirmed via the PDA the two have showed one another, on more than one occasion.

No, they wouldn’t outright say they were in a relationship, but Alicia did reveal that she and Michael purposefully sat next to each other at the Oscars earlier this year.

“That wasn’t even a question. It felt like the right thing. We wanted to sit next to each other, simple as that. We wouldn’t have gone there and not sat together.”

It looks like that’s the closest thing we are going to get to confirmation at this point. The Ex Machina star kissed Fassbender on the cheek after she won her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in The Danish Girl. And she may have referred to him as her boyfriend, without explicitly mentioning his name.

After New Year’s, Alicia Vikander spoke with E! News and talked about how she rang in the new year. Vikander apparently spent some time with her “boyfriend,” who she did not mention by name. It’s easy to believe that Michael Fassbender is the “boyfriend” in this scenario.

“It was not a very, very late night because I had to fly here,” she said, “but we had a grill going, cooked some pasta, made a good dinner, watched some fireworks…We counted down until midnight. It was great!…I think I kissed my boyfriend.”

During the same month, Fassbender and Vikander attended the Golden Globes together. They were not afraid of their public displays of affection that night, according to PopSugar. So Michael and Alicia certainly appear to be dating, although they supposedly broke up in September last year.

A source told Us Weekly that the two had called it off after being together for nine months, for unknown reasons. But they have clearly reconciled since then and seem to be in a pretty good place.

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender were leaving a press junket in New York on Monday and seemed incredibly happy. They even stopped and signed autographs for fans and even took selfies.

And now that Vikander has been cast as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot, both actors will have a video game adaptation on their resume. Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed is scheduled to be released this December.
