‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Spoilers: Premiere Date & Plot Revealed?

The horror is returning. American Horror Story Season 6 has officially announced the premiere date, and it’s a bit earlier than many fans predicted.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Season 6 of American Horror Story will begin airing on FX starting Wednesday, September 14. This is earlier than its usual October premiere dates of the past.

While fans are delighted that American Horror Story is returning to TV in just a couple of months, there is still so much that is unknown about Season 6 of the anthology series. For starters, spoilers about the plot and cast have been very few and far between.

Fans have no idea what the Season 6 plot will be, and the only hint viewers have is the very cryptic photo that is now being used as the show’s social media profile picture. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the photo is that of a number six with a question mark embedded into it. The number six is red and set against a black background.

The use of the number six with the question mark has led some fans to believe that American Horror Story Season 6 plot could be about the Antichrist.

Earlier this year at PaleyFest, the show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy hinted that children could play a huge role in Season 6. This would fit with the Antichrist theory.

“If you look at horror tropes, the innocence of children, that sort of wide-eyed entryway into some world is always very dramatic and satisfying.”

Other American Horror Story Season 6 plots have been rumored to be about Slenderman, summer camp, a cruise ship, Area 51, an orphanage, a cult, Bloody Mary, a funeral home, and many others.

As far as the cast for Season 6, not much has been announced in that department either. Fans do know that Lady Gaga will return, but her role isn’t likely to be as big as it was in Season 5’s Hotel. Actress Angela Bassett and actor Cheyene Jackson, who played fan-favorite character Will Drake last season, will also return. There has been no official word on whether or not Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Kathy Bates, or any other familiar faces will return.

Meanwhile, the American Horror Story fan base has been speculating about what a Season 6 Antichrist plot could look like.

The Antichrist is described as a false Messiah who will come to earth to spread fear and evil. Christianity reveals that Jesus will then return for a Second Coming to Earth to face the Antichrist.

If American Horror Story were to dive into an Antichrist plot, they would not be the first to do so. A movie titled The Omen is regarded as a horror classic and follows a child named Damien, who was born the Antichrist. Another classic film, Rosemary’s Baby, also addresses the Antichrist theme.

Recently, A&E developed a series titled Damien, which follows the same storyline as The Omen with the adult version of Damien.

Another reason that American Horror Story fans believe Season 6 could follow the story of the Antichrist is a clue dropped in Season 1’s Murder House, where the Antichrist is portrayed as a young blonde boy.

Since Ryan Murphy has revealed in the past that all of the seasons are, and will be, connected, this theme seems to fit perfectly with all of the other hints fans have been given about Season 6.

What are your thoughts on American Horror Story Season 6? Do you think the plot will be about the Antichrist, or will it be something else entirely? What would like to see the show take on in the future?
