MMA Legend Renzo Gracie Beats Down Muggers, Tweets Play-By-Play

MMA legend Renzo Gracie allegedly beat down a pair of would-be muggers before immediately taking to Twitter to give fans a play-by-play of the incident.

According to Gracie’s account, the attempted mugging took place on 10th Avenue and 25th Street in New York, close to the MMA trainer’s gym, reports Yard Barker. Gracie was approached by two men on Thursday night who asked him for a cigarette.

When Gracie replied that he didn’t have one, the former fighter recalled:

“He grabbed me by the arm and reached into my front pocket where my wallet was. The other man came from the other side, but it didn’t last much longer. As the first one arrived, I hit him with a left and a right and he fell. When he fell, the other one took off running.”

Gracie, who is a Brazilian jim-jitsu master, added that he had a “good talk” with the first man, including hitting him a few more times.

He also took a picture of the man facedown and posted it on his Twitter account, writing:

“My [expletive] hands hurt, hurt like hell.”

After the first attacker was incapacitated, Renzo Gracie jumped into his car and tracked down the second man. News Ledger notes that the MMA trainer found the second man a few blocks away, heading back for his accomplice. Gracie got out of his car, ran at him from behind, jumped him and put him in a choke hold.

Speaking of his own punishment, the MMA trainer stated that, “I think it’s better than just arresting them. It’s a good education process.”

Gracie also tweeted a picture of his scratched up and bruised hand, writing:

“Next time I will use only elbows, damn I miss that feeling, sometimes I wonder if the easy life has been making me soft.”

Unfortunately for the would-be muggers, they picked the wrong man to rob when they tried to mug Renzo Gracie.
