Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Adam Levine, And More React To The Shocking Death Of Christina Grimmie

The sudden death of Christina Grimmie has shocked the world, and now the 22-year-old singer’s fans and famous friends are speaking out about the tragedy.

Grimmie, a former Voice contestant and frequent opener for Selena Gomez, was fatally shot by a man with two guns while signing autographs after a concert with the boy band Before You Exit at the Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida, on Friday night. The shooter turned a gun on himself after Grimmie’s brother tried to tackle him.

“It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando, and unfortunately didn’t survive the gunshot wounds,” her rep told People. “We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning.”

The shooting came just a few hours after Christina posted a video asking fans to come and see her at her concert in Orlando.

Celebrities expressed grief over the death of the rising star, including Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, and Voice star Adam Levine, who worked closely with Grimmie during her time on the NBC talent competition. Levine was so impressed with Grimmie’s talent that he signed her to his record label even after she didn’t win the show.

After news of the Orlando shooting spread, Demi Lovato took to Twitter to say she was “praying so hard” and asked fans to also to pray for Christina. But when it was announced that at the former Voice contestant died, Lovato posted an angrier tweet, questioning how this could have happened.

“What the f*ck is wrong with people?” Demi wrote.

Demi Lovato later expressed sadness over the shocking death of her fellow musician and wrote that her prayers were with the late singer’s friends and family.

Christina Grimmie was a huge fan of Demi Lovato and had long said she wanted to collaborate with her. In a 2014 interview, she said she admired how Demi Lovato knows how to move her body as she sings, something she was still working on at the time. Demi Lovato isn’t the only star grieving over the death of Christina. Demi’s touring partner, Nick Jonas, posted a message about the late singer as well as a photo of himself with her. And other stars also hit social media to express their grief over the senseless death.

In addition to her love for Demi Lovato (her early cover of Lovato’s “Skyscraper” is a YouTube must-see), Christina Grimmie recently talked about what other artists she would love to tour with. In an interview earlier this week with PopCrush, the singer named Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber as two artists she would love to open for.

“Someone like Ariana [Grande] or maybe One Direction, you know, if I had the dream tour. Even [Justin] Bieber. I’d love to open for Bieber it would be awesome, that would definitely be the crowd I would want to play to,” she said.

While Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, and more have spoken out about the shocking death of the rising superstar, Selena Gomez also dedicated two songs to her during a show in Miami on Saturday night.
