Susan Sarandon Is Massively Criticized For Statements About Hillary Clinton

Susan Sarandon is not afraid to speak her mind when it comes to politics. Last night, she spoke of her disdain for Hillary Clinton. The Hill has the news.

“Actress Susan Sarandon says Hillary Clinton’s foreign policy makes her a greater national security risk than Donald Trump, adding that it’s ‘inevitable’ the White House hopeful will be indicted. ‘I believe in a way she’s more dangerous, except they’re both talking to Henry Kissinger apparently lately,’ Sarandon told The Young Turks on Thursday.”

The article adds that Sarandon said that Hillary did not learn a thing from Iraq and that she has done a lot of horrible things.

“I don’t know if she’s overcompensating or what her trip is. I think we’ll be in Iran in two seconds. That scares me. That frightens me,” Sarandon continued, before saying that Trump’s ideas are too implausible to be dangerous.

Some of the commenters after the article supported Sarandon, but — as expected — Sarandon is being blasted by commenters after a similar article was published on left-wing site Salon.

“Someone that stupid, and I use the word deliberately, is not worth listening to,” claims MostlyMaynard.

“Please, please, please give her a speaking slot at the Republican convention. It might actually be nuttier than Clint Eastwood’s,” says ColinClout. There have been a lot of pretty nasty tweets about Sarandon since she gave the interview.

It’s important to note that Sarandon hasn’t become a right-winger as some of her liberal critics have claimed. In fact, two months ago, Ms. Sarandon announced her support for Bernie Sanders. Elle was one of the sites that broke the news.

“And so while it may seem to his newer supporters and to a perhaps cynical American public that the senator from Vermont has come out of nowhere, Sarandon told me over the phone earlier this week that she is happy to correct the record. ‘He’s been visible on all the issues that I care about for years and years and years,’ Sarandon says. And she would know, she adds, ‘because we’re both so old.’

The article adds that Sarandon remembers when he stood up for gay men and women in the armed forces. She said that when Sanders declared he was running, she called his campaign office immediately and offered her services. She felt it was a real opportunity to examine the status quo, a great opportunity for change, and a real opportunity to engage the people who have felt disenfranchised.

Susan Sarandon has a history of political activism. She was one of the only stars willing to speak out against George W. Bush and the war on Iraq in the early 2000s, when other stars were boycotted, spit at, and told to stick to entertainment. Sarandon never backed down and still holds Bush responsible for an unnecessary war till this day.

According to the Daily Beast, the actress is preparing a television series that satirizes George W. Bush this fall. The show, created by Joshua Michael Stern, has Sarandon playing the wife of a disgraced U.S. president played by Nick Nolte. In the “Bush” role, Nolte decides to go out and repair the damage he’s done 20 years after leaving the Oval Office.
