Selena Gomez Revival Concert Wardrobe: One Quick Look Before It Changes

Selena Gomez holds the record for shutting down the red carpet 15 times. And so for the untrained eye, keeping up with the singer’s wardrobe changes at her performances can be quite difficult. Here’s a quick look at Selena Gomez’s main costume for her Revival concert series, which kicked off in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 6 and will end in Guadalajara on December 18.

The concert series takes the pop princess all over the world, thereby turning her into the singing ambassador for Lupus Research, as she donates a portion of every ticket sold to such a charitable cause. Prior to Revival, Selena Gomez was meaning to embark on her Stars Dance Tour in 2013. However, she had to cancel the tour when she was diagnosed with lupus, an incurable disease.

Lupus is also non-communicable. It is known to attack an individual’s immune system, so the body is unable to defend itself from the disease. Obviously, Selena Gomez is making a huge personal sacrifice in going through with Revival, but as her fans say, “We are worth it.”

So Selena is only too happy to oblige, as she has learned to manage her medical condition while on tour. Barely 23 years old and so full of life, Gomez goes through one concert venue after another without a hitch, save for a few emotional moments when the crowd tugs at the total performer’s heartstrings. She continues to strut her style, and with it goes a distinctive wardrobe that has been custom designed by MONSE, according to Billboard.

MONSE (pronounced mon-SAY) specializes in “menswear inspired designs that ooze ease and sophistication.”

It is a one-year-old fashion company owned by Oscar De La Renta alumni Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim. Thus far, the company has catered to “stars such as Oscar winner Brie Larson, Lady Gaga, Kate Bosworth and, most recently, Sarah Jessica Parker, who collaborated with MONSE on her much talked about Alexander Hamilton-inspired Met Gala pantsuit.”

MONSE reportedly sent Selena Gomez and her tour fashion director Christian Classen ten fashion sketches, which were all approved for the show. This is the fourth time that Selena is wearing a MONSE creation.

“Gomez turned heads during Paris Fashion Week this past March wearing a modern and feminine black pantsuit with off-the-shoulder-pinstripe details from MONSE’s Fall 2016 collection that drove comparisons to Audrey Hepburn. Gomez wore an elegant MONSE Spring 2016 gown at Billboard’s Women in Music event this past December, made up of a silver beaded bodice and ivory ruffled skirt with a signature MONSE dress shirt detail tied around the waist.”

Although Selena Gomez is wearing all ten designs at various points in the concert, the mainstays are the gown and the body suit. The nude body suit is adorned with 60,000 Swarovski crystals. On the other hand, the gown is a deconstructed black taffeta that wraps around different parts of Selena’s body like a loose banana peel.

Worn together or separately, the gown and the body suit help accentuate Selena’s slim and svelte figure. At the same time, the light material construction of both creations helps the performer to move around the stage with ease. In the words of Daily Mail:Selena Gomez is extremely racy in a bodysuit and sheer sparkly catsuit as she kicks off Revival Tour in spectacular style.”

Although the set has undoubtedly enthralled Selena’s audiences and earned rave reviews from fashionistas, the next set that the star will be switching to soon enough should be nothing short of jaw-dropping. Selena Gomez declines to say when the Revival costume switch will happen exactly, but it seems that she can’t wait to don the new suits.

Hello Giggles has quoted Selena Gomez as saying: “When I see my new costumes for stage – comin sooooon.”

Other performers would have economized by sticking to a single set for all performances, but not Selena Gomez. She always wants the best for her audience.
