New York Man Wheeling Dead Wife Through Staten Island On Metal Dolly Arrested And Charged With Murder

A bizarre scene in the streets of Staten Island, New York, caused residents to be concerned for their safety and resulted in the search for a man that was observed wheeling the topless dead body of his wife down the street on a metal dolly.

The incident occurred on Friday as 31-year-old Anthony Lopez was spotted pulling the dead body of his wife down the street on a metal cart. His wife was topless and visibly deceased. Residents contacted the police in hopes he would be caught and remove further danger from the streets.

Police arrived on the scene and witnessed Lopez carting his wife. When he saw the officers, he dumped the limp body of his wife into a nearby patch of grass and ran away. At the time, he was able to refrain from being captured, according to NBC New York.

Efforts to locate Lopez continued as the media reported on the incident with images of Lopez posted on television, print, and social media. As a result, residents were on the lookout, and his whereabouts were reported on Saturday. Police acted upon the tips and apprehended Lopez without further harm being done to others.

Lopez knew he was a wanted man and attempted to disguise himself by shaving his head. Unfortunately for him, he was pretty well known in his area and was not hard to identify or find.

PIX11 identified Lopez’s wife as 26-year-old Obiamaka Aduba, the victim in the crime.

According to neighbors of the couple, the pair would often fight and police were present at their home all the time.

Lopez’s Neighbor, Supreme Coleman, feels that Lopez’s wife’s death was drug related.

“He was smoking that why it was due to drugs. He’s been crazy, he’s mentally disturbed,”

Other neighbors agreed with Coleman, claiming Lopez is addicted to crack and has multiple psychiatric issues.

Sources claim that Lopez forced Aduba to earn money as a prostitute. He has also been known to beat her to the point that he broke her bones on multiple occasions. When police examined her body, she was found to have strangulation marks around her neck and she was wrapped in a sheet.

A neighbor reported that Aduba’s mother was concerned about her safety and bought her cellular phones on multiple occasions. However, Lopez would sell them for money.

“Every time her mother would buy her a new phone, he would take it and sell it,”

Aduba’s body has not yet been investigated by the medical examiner, but that is assumed to happen soon.

Since 2000, Lopez has been arrested over 50 times. The charges on his record include robberies, assault, larceny, and multiple drug-related crimes.

Neighbor Cherise Taylor was shocked that Lopez is accused of killing his wife and that it happened in her neighborhood.

“This don’t make no sense, this is not that type of block. This is not that type of neighborhood. He just walks around. Don’t bother nobody. Everyone’s got their issues.”

Lopez is in jail with charges of second-degree murder and the concealment of a human corpse. He does not currently have a lawyer and could not be reached for comment.

It is unknown whether Lopez was under the influence of drugs while pulling the half-naked body of his wife through the streets, although residents seem to believe he was.

Past arrests reveal Lopez’s violent and nefarious past. Previous times in jail have not been revealed at this time. It is expected that he will appear in front of a judge soon and bail will be set at that time.
