Rufus Wainwright To Wed Longtime Boyfriend This Week

Rufus Wainwright is set to marry his longtime boyfriend, Jorn Weisbrodt, on Thursday at Wainwright’s home in Montauk, New York.

The singer-songwriter and his German arts-administrator fiance will say “I Do” in front of 250 guests at the splashy wedding. Guests include Yoko Ono and Carrie Fisher, reports The Huffington Post.

Wainwright will also likely perform at the wedding. The couple have been dating since 2007 and became engaged in late 2010. Wainwright announced in February 2011 that he and Lorca Cohen had welcomed a baby girl into the world. The statement read:

“Darling daughter Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen was born on February 2, 2011 in Los Angeles, California to proud parents Lorca Cohen, Rufus Wainwright and Deputy Dad Jorn Weisbrodt. Lorca Cohen is the mother of the baby and Rufus Wainwright is the father.”

The New York Daily News notes that Wainwright and Weisbrodt have asked for money instead of physical gifts in order to purchas the 25-foot Airstream travel trailer that they recently ordered but have not yet had delivered. A new Airstream trailer can run between $55,000 and $75,000, depending on how much it has been customized.

The couple sent save the date videos in February to announce their upcoming wedding, and the clip shows Wainwright writing the details of the couple’s wedding in the sand on an East End beach.

Both Rufus Wainwright and Jorn Weisbrodt plan on jumping into the ocean once their ceremony is finalized and have encouraged their guests, who have been told to wear whatever they want to the wedding, to jump in with them.
