Terri ‘Missy’ Bevers Update: Murder Wounds Match Tool Suspect Carried In Surveillance Video

Information on how Terri “Missy” Bevers, the fitness trainer killed in a Dallas-area Texas church, was murdered was released today. The fatal wounds closely match the tool police say the suspect was holding in surveillance camera footage.

CBS News reports that a warrant issued the day after Bevers, 45, was found murdered inside the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Texas, shows that the fitness trainer was killed from “multiple puncture wounds found on her head and chest.” The wounds are consistent with the tool being carried by the suspect, who was caught on video “walking throughout the building holding a hammer, breaking windows and going through offices.”

The suspect, who’s still at large, appeared on the surveillance footage at around 4 a.m. on April 18, walking around while carrying what appears to be a large hammer. It’s still not yet known if the suspect is male or female, but police believe that a male carried out the crime. The assailant wore a black helmet, a balaclava, and a black vest with the word “police” on it. Police are hoping that anyone who watches the video will recognize the suspect’s walking style and/or mannerisms.

Bevers appeared on the surveillance footage the same morning at around 4:18 a.m. She arrived at the church in the early morning hours for a Camp Gladiator fitness class. Some of the students she taught found Bevers unresponsive at 5 a.m. and called the police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An evidentiary search warrant by the Midlothian Police Department confirms that Missy Bevers died from multiple wounds to the head.

Bevers’s husband, Brandon Bevers, said he doesn’t think his wife knew the suspect. She was known as a loving, friendly woman with no enemies. Brandon Bevers said she was passionate about fitness and wanted to help others achieve their personal fitness goals.

“She was very passionate about transforming people’s lives, physically and mentally. She transformed herself into a very fit person and her desire to do that for others. I pray that whoever did this would be caught. And I pray for all of the people who cared so much about my wife.”

Midlothian Assistant Police Chief Kevin Johnson reiterated that they want the public to focus on the suspect’s gait and body language. A single tip may be the help that they need to solve the case.

“We are just hoping that somebody will see something that piques their interest and spurs their memory, so that they may make a connection to somebody they know and provide us that tip…..Detectives would like the public to focus in on the mannerisms and distinguishing walk of the suspect. Investigators believe that someone still has information or may recognize the suspect in this case.”

So far, authorities haven’t revealed whether they have any suspects in mind. A previous search warrant for her father-in-law, Randy Bevers, created a frenzy of speculation after authorities obtained a bloodied shirt that he sent to the dry cleaners. Brandon Bevers called it a “non-issue” and wanted it addressed quickly so that the search for the real killer could continue.

“I wanted to make sure we put this fire out. This is such a non-issue. We wanted to address it fast.”

The blood on the shirt turned out to be animal blood. Randy Bevers told police that his pet dog was killed in a fight with another dog at a relative’s house. He got his pet’s blood on his shirt when he brought the animal to the Animal Emergency Hospital of Mansfield.

The Oak Farms Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward in connection with the murder of Terri “Missy” Bevers. Anyone with any information is urged to call the Midlothian Police Department at 972-775-3333 or Ellis County Crime Stoppers at 972-937-7297.
