Blake Shelton And Gwen Stefani Have Similar Album Covers, Will Appear Together Tonight On ‘The Voice’

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s new albums don’t just have similar names; they have similar covers.

Blake Shelton unveiled the album art for If I’m Honest on Monday night’s episode of The Voice, and just like Gwen Stefani, he gives good face in his cover closeup. Blake lets his eyes do the talking in the black-and-white shot, which matches the mood of the music video for “Came Here to Forget,” the first single from the record. The cover even features lettering with a touch of beachy blue that brings to mind the video’s seaside setting.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Blake Shelton was pretty impressed with his headshot. His new record is all about sharing his honest feelings with his fans, so he’s not going to lie and say that he doesn’t think that he looks handsome.

“Look at the head on that guy!” Blake said to Carson Daly when the cover was revealed on The Voice. He told Carson that he believes If I’m Honest is the best album that he can possibly do, and he’s so impressed with how it turned out that he’s seemingly afraid that any future endeavors won’t be able to live up to its greatness. Luckily, Blake Shelton knows that he has a fun gig to fall back on if this whole country music star thing doesn’t work out for him.

“That’s probably going to be my last album, I think it’s my last album,” Blake said. “I’m just a coach on The Voice from now on.”

Fans of the “Sangria” singer can only hope that he was joking.

Blake Shelton didn’t go into detail about why he chose a headshot for the cover of If I’m Honest, but perhaps he was inspired by Gwen Stefani. She also picked a photo of her face for the cover of This Is What the Truth Feels Like, but she added a personal touch that Blake decided to skip out on: cute little doodles.

During an interview with LinkedIn, Gwen Stefani explained that the original plan was to only release a doodle-free album cover. She loved how the image above turned out, but she felt like it didn’t accurately portray the emotions she was experiencing in the aftermath of her divorce from Gavin Rossdale.

“But it was just a pretty picture. It wasn’t anything else. And that felt weird to me. It’s not a pretty picture in my life, right now,” Gwen said.

“So I did these drawings and doodles on top of it. It took me kind of a while, because I wasn’t in a place where I could do it. Like, it was due and I literally had a pencil with no sharpener and no eraser and I was, like, trying to do this project in the this remote area.”

Is it possible that the “remote area” in question was Blake Shelton’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma? Perhaps Gwen and Blake were buying sharpeners and erasers when they visited a Dollar General store near his home.

Gwen Stefani says that the record company was not a fan of her doodles, but she stuck to her guns and got her label to compromise by agreeing to release two versions of the cover. The other version features a slightly different photo and no doodles.

If you want to see what Blake Shelton’s album would look like with Gwen’s artwork, you’re in luck — Gwen Stefani has made this possible using the “Gwen Doodle” tool on her website. it adds the album artwork from the Target deluxe edition of This Is What the Truth Feels Like to any photo, including Blake’s cover for If I’m Honest. Unfortunately for Blake, Gwen’s doodles make him look like he’s suffering from a bad cold.

Blake Shelton isn’t the only coach on The Voice who gets to use the show to promote his music—Gwen tweeted that she’ll be performing “Misery” on the NBC reality show tonight. The song is seemingly about Blake, so he probably can’t wait for his former fellow coach and team adviser to return to the show for another flirt fest.

Blake Shelton’s new album drops on May 20, and surely he’ll also get a chance to perform one of his new songs on The Voice before this season comes to a close. In the meantime, be sure to tune in to NBC at 8 p.m. ET tonight to check out Gwen Stefani’s performance and Blake’s reaction to it.
