Benedict Cumberbatch As ‘Doctor Strange’ Visits A NY Comic Book Store
New York is not the kind of town where people are easily surprised, but this weekend, Benedict Cumberbatch, dressed as Doctor Strange, decided to drop into a comic book store. But rather than just ignore him, or be annoyed, it seems that Mr. Cumberbatch, or Dr. Strange, is charming Midtown Manhattan… as if his Sherlock Holmes persona wasn’t charming enough.
According to The Inquisitr, Cumberbatch already has a following around the globe, in human and chocolate form. The Cumberbunny was a chocolate Easter bunny with Benedict Cumberbatch’s face, and it sold out around the globe. It was available in dark, milk, and white chocolate, and it provided an expensive taste for everyone with real gold glitter.

Vanity Fair reported on the superhero sighting in New York, of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, which will be the new Marvel movie coming out with Cumberbatch as its star. But, in a town that would curse Mother Theresa if she jammed up traffic, Benedict Cumberbatch seems to be charming the masses.
But on Sunday, whilst still in costume, Cumberbatch, still dressed as Doctor Strange, stopped into a Midtown comic book store with the film’s director, Scott Derrickson, to the delight of customers. JHU Comics was happy to have Cumberbatch there for a photo op and some research, and he had his picture taken alongside a Doctor Strange comic book cover.

People Magazine says that something strange popped up this weekend at the JHU comic book shop. Doctor Strange that is, and it was Benedict Cumberbatch in full costume. Cumberbatch posed with staffers, yucked it up, and by all accounts, was a real pleasure and a surprise as Doctor Strange. The store manager, Rene Rosa, said that the sudden appearance of Cumberbatch shocked and pleased everyone.
“There were only about five or six people in the store, but everyone went crazy when they saw him. One lady screamed at her boyfriend, ‘Did you see what just happened?’ But he was in the back looking at comics, not paying attention.”
For people not familiar with Doctor Strange, he is a Marvel comic character who is a surgeon turned sorcerer. Of course he is.
Cumberbatch said that getting down all of the details of Doctor Strange was quite a learning curve, but like all things Cumberbatch, he wanted to get it all down so as to not disappoint fans of Doctor Strange and his own fans. Cumberbatch is known as an actor driven to always give 100 percent. And Cumberbatch was surprised to learn how much there was to know.
“It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that.”
