Is A ‘106 & Park’ Reboot With Original Hosts AJ And Free Coming To BET?
Is 106 & Park coming back to BET, or is it just another celebrity April Fools’ Day prank?
That is what Extra correspondent and original 106 & Park co-host A.J. Calloway announced via Instagram Friday morning.

The 41-year-old television personality posted an old photograph of himself alongside Free, his longtime friend and former 106 & Park co-host, along with a caption that made the big announcement.
“It’s happening!!! The OG’s of [BET’s ‘106 & Park’] are returning for a reboot of the show!!! Get ready world!!! 106 and Park After Dark is coming!!!! [Free & AJ Calloway] are back!!!”
AJ Calloway even went as far as thanking Stephen Grant Hill (BET President of Music Programming) and Debra Lee (BET Chairman and CEO) to conclude his Instagram announcement.
Marie Wright (also known as “Free”) did not necessarily make an announcement of her own via social media. However, she did re-post AJ Calloway’s original Instagram post and complete caption on her Instagram page.
She also re-posted a hilarious “threat” of sorts from Twitter that was posted by an apparent 106 & Park fan that was hoping the announcement was not added to the growing list of April Fools’ Day pranks.
That was just one of the many people that discussed the possible return of 106 & Park to BET Friday on Twitter, hoping that it is an official announcement instead of another well-developed April Fools’ Day prank.

Quite a few celebrities even chimed in with their own pleas and requests to make this a reality instead of just another joke.

Since there has been no official announcement from BET to confirm the 106 & Park reboot, chances are that it is just an April Fools’ Day prank orchestrated by AJ Calloway.
However, it is important to keep in mind that AJ and Free were not the only ones involved with promoting the alleged reboot. In an Instagram video posted Friday, AJ Calloway even had singer Kelly Rowland to promote the 106 & Park After Dark reboot as well.
“I’m so excited! 106 & Park After Dark is coming!”
Shenequa Golding with Vibe magazine also published an article online discussing whether or not the AJ Calloway announcement about the 106 & Park reboot was just an April Fools’ Day prank. She even focused on AJ’s Instagram posts, including the video that he recorded alongside Kelly Rowland.
Towards the end of her article, though, Golding seemed to confirm that 106 & Park After Dark is an actual show that is currently under development.
“106 & Park After Dark will actually be a thing. The details are slim, and by slim we mean non existent as of now. But rest assured our favorites AJ and Free will be back in our lives, on a daily basis on BET. Ahh, glad their home.”
Keep in mind that Shenequa and Vibe may very well be in on the April Fools’ Day prank as well, especially since there has not been any official announcement or post from the actual network to support or confirm these claims.
Whether or not 106 & Park is actually making its big return to the BET Network is yet to be seen. However, an important lesson that can be learned from this “announcement” is that one should always second-guess what is seen, read, or heard on April Fools’ Day.
