New Beyonce Album On April Fools’ Day?

Beyonce has had the Beyhive buzzing ever since her dynamic “Formation” performance at the Super Bowl in February this year and the release of the music video just one day prior. During the Super Bowl, Beyonce revealed her “Formation World Tour,” which may suggest that a new album is right around the corner. That’s what millions of Bey fans are praying for.

But is it safe to count on an April 1 release date for this Beyonce project? April 1 is, of course, April Fools’ Day and the internet is, not surprisingly, notorious for taking advantage of this “humorous holiday” and tricking anyone who is willing to be gullible enough. However, that has not stopped several online sources claiming to have the inside scoop on the details of the release, stating that it will drop on Friday this week. But frankly, there have been rumors of several different release dates during 2016 alone, from various sources, not all of them trustworthy.

There was a recent BBC News report that claimed Beyonce would be dropping her new album during Easter weekend, just in time for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Clearly, that didn’t happen, but Beyonce fans were quick to notice that the “Drunk in Love” singer’s iTunes page was down and that several empty videos slots suddenly appeared on her Vevo music video page. This strongly suggests that much like her 2013 self-titled album, which completely changed the direction of her career, Beyonce may be providing a music video to accompany each song on the project. There haven’t been any reports of Beyonce filming anything, but then again, we never even knew the singer was filming something for “Formation” until the moment it hit the internet.

Beyonce’s newest album, which no one knows the confirmed title of, is now rumored to have an April release date. According to a tweet released this week, the album is titled Formation and will feature guest appearances from Frank Ocean, Adele, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and, of course, her, husband Jay-Z. Tidal, the music streaming platform co-owned by Jay-Z, Beyonce, and several other high-profile music artists, will apparently be getting the project first — on April 1. It will then become available everywhere else one week later, on April 8. But again, the April 1 release date can cause alarm, since it is April Fools’ Day, and there are far too many hardcore fans who are not in the mood for jokes — especially when it comes to new music from Queen Bey.

Beyonce’s “Formation World Tour” starts towards the end of April, so the album should be released sometime within the month of April, if not April 1.
