One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson Insists ‘You Can Trust’ Simon Cowell

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has many reasons to be grateful to Simon Cowell. It was Cowell on his TV talent show who brought Tomlinson together with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik to form One Direction. Louis and the rest of the boys failed to make it through the “boot camp” stage of the 2010 season of X-Factor, but Cowell had spotted something special, and One Direction was born. Since then, Tomlinson and One Direction have gone on to become a phenomenon, one of the world’s biggest bands. It seems that Tomlinson is a big fan of Cowell, an opinion that is not shared by One Direction’s fans.

Of course, no One Direction fan would disagree that Cowell was the mastermind behind Tomlinson and his bandmates becoming some of the most recognizable faces on the planet. However, many fans blame Cowell and the rest of One Direction’s management team for driving Louis and the rest of the boys into the ground. Fans believe that Cowell has used the success of Louis and One Direction to build his own fortune with little regard for their welfare.

Tomlinson’s fans also blame Cowell for pushing Louis and the rest of the band into a series of ill-judged PR stunts to ensure that their names are constantly in the press. Despite the low opinion fans have of Cowell, it seems that Louis does not share it. According to Billboard Louis says that Simon is someone “you can trust.”

“Simon was completely understanding when we told him we wanted to go on a break. Not once did he put any pressure on us. Most people would’ve tried to give us at least a nudge. But he didn’t. That’s a real reflection of his character. Once you get to know him, he’s lovely and kind.”

Apparently, Simon was also one of the first people that Tomlinson turned to when he learned that he was to be a father. Many of Tomlinson’s fans will believe that Louis made a grave error by sharing that news with Cowell, as the story was quickly leaked to the Sun. It may be a total coincidence, but many of Louis’ fans are suspicious of the fact that Cowell’s head of PR is married to the Sun‘s U.S. editor, Pete Samson, who broke the story.

Many of Louis’ fans will be upset to hear Tomlinson talking so fondly about Cowell. Many fans are hoping that One Direction’s hiatus, which began this month, would see Tomlinson follow Harry Styles by sacking One Direction’s management team. Fans hopes were buoyed when Styles signed to Jeff Azoff and Dawbell PR back in January, and they were convinced that Tomlinson, Horan, and Payne would follow suit.

In recent weeks, there seems to be growing evidence that Tomlinson and the others are staying exactly where they are in terms of their management. As was recently reported in the Inquisitr, Niall Horan is believed to be setting up a sports management company in partnership with Modest Management, who currently manages One Direction.

It was widely reported last month, including by the Mirror, that Tomlinson was keen to take over from Nick Grimshaw as a judge on the 2016 season of X-Factor. Fans will be well aware that Louis appeared with Cowell during the last season of the hit TV show, and since then, rumors linking Tomlinson with a role on the show are rarely far from the surface. The reality is that Cowell is unlikely to employ Tomlinson on X-Factor if he doesn’t have some say in the 24-year-old singer’s career.

Fans will also be aware that Tomlinson’s record label, Triple Strings Ltd, is a subsidiary of Cowell’s SyCo. The Independent reported that Louis will be devoting his time to the label during One Direction’s hiatus, and it seems that Tomlinson has already signed a number of acts.

With so many business links between Louis and Simon, and with Louis singing Cowell’s praises in the media, it does not seem likely that Tomlinson will break his relationship with Cowell any time soon. Many of Louis fans will be devastated to read that Tomlinson and Cowell seem to be as close as ever.
