Kim Richards Still A Soft Spot For Kyle Richards: Did Kathryn Cross The Line?

Kim Richards decided not to return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as a full-time housewife on the current season of the show. It is possible that she wasn’t ready to share her life once again on the show, as she was in a bad spot earlier last year. Not only did Kim struggle with her ex-husband Monty Brinson having cancer, but Richards was also arrested twice — once for drinking in public and the other for shoplifting at Target. Even though Kim is completely sober now, her sister is still concerned about her. According to a new Bravo report, Kim Richards is still a touchy subject for her sister, Kyle Richards. This was apparent when the ladies went to Kathryn Edwards’ home for lunch.

“Kathryn’s house is beautiful, and she made quite an effort to host a beautiful lunch. Things got uncomfortable when the subject of my sister Kim came up. I don’t like to hear Lisa Rinna speak against my sister. It bothers me that she claims to have such empathy for anyone who suffers from addiction and then says terrible things about Kim. I have tried to keep the situation between Rinna and Kim separate from our friendship. However, she tends to bring it up again and again making that difficult,” Kyle reveals after Kim became the topic of conversation.

She eventually had to leave the table and walked away from the conversation.

Of course, Kyle filmed this scene just weeks after Kim Richards was arrested for shoplifting at Target. Kim had stolen $600 worth of toys from Target, and she was sentenced to probation and community service. Even though Richards already had a charge from earlier in the summer, the judge was lenient with her. Kyle revealed that she hadn’t really talked to Kim at all after the arrest, so she didn’t appreciate the other ladies bringing up Kim at the lunch.

“I understand she is entitled to her feelings, but there is a time and place. If she cared about our friendship at all, it wouldn’t be with me sitting right there while saying such hurtful remarks about Kim as well as in her interviews,” Richards revealed about the conversation, adding, “Kathryn defending my sister while sharing the loss of her father was touching. A moment so personal we were all brought to tears and felt that much closer to Kathryn.”

It is clear that Kim Richards is still a touchy subject. Even though she wants her sister Kim to succeed in her sobriety, one can imagine that she’s still walking on eggshells in hopes of her staying sober. She recently revealed that she was convinced that Kim would stay sober, as she was doing well, even after losing her ex-husband Monty to cancer.

Kathryn didn’t bring up Kim Richards to talk about her arrest or gossip about her troubles. Even though Edwards is new to the group, she decided to open up about her own experiences. Her own father had struggled with alcohol and ended up committing suicide over his troubles. So she was the first to defend Kim Richards, even though she hadn’t met Kim before.

“My father was an alcoholic and drug addict. He wasn’t the everyday drinker… he was a binger. He self-medicated with those things because ultimately what was wrong with him was depression and manic behavior. He went through Hazelden, a great treatment center, twice — but it didn’t save him. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in January 1978,” Kathryn Edwards revealed in her Bravo blog after watching the lunch scene on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
