Meghan Trainor Started Out Playing Nantucket Clubs With Her Family’s Caribbean Band

Meghan Trainor was born and raised in Nantucket, but few know that she was also part of a Nantucket family band called Island Fusion. Boston reports that in a recent appearance on The Late Show With James Corden, Meghan Trainor spoke about the family band.

“This is our family band. We were called Island Fusion because we did Caribbean soca songs, and then we also did pop music by me.”

Meghan Trainor also spoke about her musical flexibility in the band.

“I’d be on the bongos with the keyboard on the side, and I’d have my little mic piece. I had chimes, everything. I did percussion. I was amazing. I went out with my little guitar and my ukulele. And we were in the clubs – but, like, Nantucket clubs.”

Corden even had a picture of Island Fusion.

According to People, Meghan Trainer and Corden also got together to sing a parody of Trainor’s song “All About That Bass.” They called the new version “All About That Change” and dedicated it to New Year 2016.

Corden belted out his lyrics.

“It’s pretty clear I ain’t no size 2. But I just joined a gym like I’m supposed to do. Cause I got that boom boom walkin’ up the staircases. And all the wrong junk in all the wrong places.”

And Meghan Trainor followed up with hers.

“After work I come home and I have a glass of wine. And when I say a glass. I really mean four or five. But I’m gonna cut back I swear to drink more water instead. Cause I can’t afford to drunk dial another ex.”

Meghan Trainor sure knows how to have a good time! She also knows how to debunk dating rumors that have been circulating about her and DeAndre Jordan. Entertainment Tonight reports that there have been rumors that DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers is going to be Trainor’s big date to the Grammy Awards.

But Meghan Trainor has said nope, she has another man in mind.

“It’s [going to be] my father. My father is gonna be always my Grammy date forever. My parents are both coming with me, so I’m excited!”

When asked about her relationship with Jordan, she said they were friends.

“DeAndre is a great friend of mine. He’s awesome.”

According to Hollywood Life, Meghan Trainor is also having a great time photobombing lately. In particular, Trainor totally photobombed a hot pic of John Stamos on the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards.

Just Jared reports that Trainor walked away with a People’s Choice Award, which she tweeted about soon after, thanking her fans.

There is no doubt that Meghan Trainor is talented and loved by her fans. Billboard reports that her album Title has now sold more than a million copies one year after its release. The album has also stayed in the top 30 of the Billboard 200 weekly chart for the entire year, thanks to the numerous hit singles that have come from the album.

Fortunately, fans will be able to enjoy a new album from Meghan Trainor this year. The Mississauga News reports that Trainor told E! News that the final mixes are being done this week.

“We’re doing the final mixes this week. It’s amazing to finally wrap it up. It kills you to hold these songs from the world, it really does. Especially, one of my songs, it’s called ‘Thank You’, which the album is called, ‘Thank You’, and it’s a song to my fans. I want them to hear it now but I have to wait.”
