‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Debunks Rumors He Is Leaving The Show, Clarifies By Giving Contract Details

Despite reports that the fifth season of Arrow would be his last, Stephen Amell will not be leaving the hit series any time soon. In fact, during a recent Q&A session on Facebook, Amell opened up to fans about this latest rumor. Amell promised that he would remain with the show until its end, even if that means playing Oliver Queen through 2019.

In the candid session on social media, Amell explained how his contact goes well beyond the fifth season of Arrow, and debunked rumors that he is planning to depart from the show next year.

“Facebook… I keep reading that I’m leaving Arrow. I’m not,” Amell told his fans. “I have a contract that runs through 2019. At least. Now… That doesn’t mean Arrow will run that long, but if it does… I’ll be here.”

Rumors that Amell was set to leave the show first surfaced in recent weeks. The speculation was based on Amell’s comments that the show was originally slated to last five seasons. However, based on his latest social media session, fans can rest assured knowing that Amell is not leaving Arrow any time soon.

In addition to the rumors of his departure, Movie Pilot is reporting that Amell also addressed speculation about him joining The CW’s Supernatural. Amell was thought to be up for a part in the series involving a professional wrestling storyline. Given Amell’s history with martial arts and his recent wrestling debut on WWE, the actor seemed a perfect fit for the part.

However, although Amell is a big fan of the show, he revealed that he had no plans to be included in a future episode of Supernatural. “If they asked me, sure? If I was available, sure,” he stated. “Have they asked me? No. Would I be available? No.”

At the same time, there has been speculation that Amell might be set to star in a future movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Cosmic Book News, Amell addressed these rumors as well, and revealed that he has not been offered any roles with Marvel, though he wouldn’t turn one down if the studio made an offer.

“That’s another one of those absolutely preposterous rumors. Here’s the deal: I’m an actor. I like acting roles. Because an actor tends to be defined by not being unemployed. So if a role came up… I would always listen,” he shared during the Q&A session. “Does that include Marvel characters? Of course it does. Have there been any offers, auditions, or even general meetings…? No.”

That being said, there is still a possibility that Amell could be considered for a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Amell would be a great fit for a number of Marvel characters, Moon Knight, Richard Rider Nova, and John Walker would all be viable options for the Arrow star.

While we all wait eagerly to discover what’s next for Amell, the actor is set to appear in the upcoming film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Amell is set to play the role of Casey Jones in the movie, which is set to open in theaters on June 3.

Until then, fans will have plenty of opportunity to see Amell on the small screen in his role on Arrow. According to ComicBook.com, the second half of Season 4 will feature Oliver going head to head with Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) as he seeks revenge for Darhk’s attack during the mid-season finale.

Although Arrow is currently on its winter break, the hit series is expected to return on January 20 on The CW.
