Madonna In Bitter Custody Battle; Plays On Even After Organizers Cut The Power In Glasgow Concert

Madonna’s passion extends beyond her work and to her children. Madonna’s 15-year-old son, Rocco, recently jetted off to England to be with his father, Guy Ritchie, stating that he wanted to stay with his father for the holidays. According to Us Weekly, Madonna went to court on Wednesday, December 23, and obtained a court order forcing Rocco to come home.

However, Ritchie has also gone to court. Eric Buckley, Ritchie’s lawyer, told Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Deborah Kaplan that Rocco has made it clear he doesn’t want to go back to New York.

“Rocco has expressed very clearly that he does not want to return to New York.”

With the custody battle in full swing, Madonna posted a heart-warming photo of her and Rocco on Instagram.

The caption expresses her love for her son.

“Merry X-mas to the Sun-shine of my Life!”

Meanwhile, Madonna is receiving a lot of criticism for reportedly using her private jet for a journey of a mere 120 miles. Daily Mail reports that last Wednesday, after finishing her concert in Birmingham, England, Madonna chose to fly to her home in London, rather than drive the short distance.

Environmental activists and fans were outraged at the poor decision made by a woman who says she supports efforts to stop climate change. Comments poured into the Daily Mail, such as this one.

“What she really wants to campaign for is only the wealthy can leave their carbon footprints while the rest of us have to use cart horses to travel. I am soo angry at this hypocrite!!”

If criticism of her environmentally unfriendly choices and her runaway son weren’t enough, Madonna also recently dealt with venue operators who decided her concert was over before she did. AJC reports that when Madonna recently performed in Glasgow for her Rebel Heart Tour, the venue operators decided it was time for the concert to be over and they turned off the power.

It didn’t work. Check out the video.

Madonna also posted her thoughts on the matter to her Twitter account.

Her message was loud and clear.

“We don’t stop till its over Glasgow! Don’t f*** with the Queen.”

Madonna isn’t one to stop or avoid a concert lightly. AJC also reports she had a concert scheduled in Stockholm the day after the Paris terrorist attacks and she considered cancelling it. Then, she reconsidered.

“I feel torn. Why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones? However, that is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up. They want to silence us. We won’t let them. We will never let them.”

Regardless of Madonna’s concert behavior or her lack of environmental common sense, she still inspires those around her, including younger celebrities like Selena Gomez. Entertainment Weekly reports that Gomez has taken inspiration from Madonna’s Truth or Dare when making her latest video, “Hands to Myself.”

In the video, Gomez is obsessed with Christopher Mason (played by himself). She breaks into his home, goes through his things, dances around in his clothing, and takes a bath. She is discovered and the police are called, but there is a twist. Video director Alek Keshishian discusses the reasoning behind his oft-eccentric videos.

“I always like to find a different way of seeing a celebrity. [And] Selena’s head was in the same place.”

Madonna sure does have a lot of influence. That just may be the definition of star power.
