Camila Cabello’s Heartfelt Tribute To Shawn Mendes

Camila Cabello shared a sweet message for her friend Shawn Mendes after their final performance at the Jingle Ball.

Fifth Harmony and Shawn Mendes have shared the stage in the special concert that took place in the U.S. But it was their last performance in Tampa, Florida, that hit hard because it was their last performance together. Camila Cabello and Mendes even took the stage to perform their duet “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” The 5H member recently took to her Instagram page to show how much she appreciates their friendship.

Camila shared a collage of cozy black-and-white photos from their Jingle Ball performances. She wrote in the caption, “first to last jingle ball with the Canadian fury. LMAO these pictures make me laugh because we would literally just crack up at the end of this song every night. thank you to this lovely human @shawnmendes for inviting me to perform during his set on these jingle balls, i had such a blast watching you kill it every night and then coming on to sing IKWYDLS – thank you to you, your team @andrewgertler @stephenschloss (and everyone else who’s insta I don’t have) for having me.”

It’s not their final performance just yet, though. It was the final one before the holidays arrived. But Camila and Shawn Mendes will hit the stage for one last official time on New Year’s Eve during Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution on FOX, according to Seventeen. But that will be the last time that fans will get to see them together after that.

But the singers are still heating up the radio airwaves, so it won’t be the last time you hear their voices together. According to Headline Planet, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” climbed to No. 46 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The two musicians also charted on the iTunes charts around Christmas Day. Their song, which was at No. 26 on Christmas Eve, rose up to No. 15 on Christmas Day. It’s the first time out of her girl group Fifth Harmony that Cabello has charted on her own.

The single has also added fuel to the rumors that the singers may be more than friends. But Cabello revealed to Teen Vogue the real meaning behind the song. She said that the song is about a guy, but it’s not about Mendes. In fact, it was another guy that scorned the singer.

“The song is about cheating. Two days before we wrote this song I found out from a friend of mine that the boy that I was ‘talking to’ was also talking to other girls. The line ‘can’t seem to let you go / can’t seem to hold you close’ was about that weird period when you find out you’re being played but haven’t said anything to him yet and it’s awkward and distant.”

Camila said that in the track, she sings the role of the “cheater,” to put herself in the guy’s shoes. The song also inspired Camila to break things off with the guy she was talking to in her real life. The singer has been previously linked to Austin Mahone in 2014, but the two ended their short-term relationship.

Nowadays, Cabello has decided not to be open about her relationships. She won’t even share any photos of herself on dates on social media unless she’s serious about that person. Both Cabello and Mendes have also denied the dating rumors, but that hasn’t stopped fans from wondering if they’re secretly dating each other.
