Joey Feek Cancer Update: Joey And Indiana Share Bedtime Kisses As Joey’s Cancer Battle Continues

Joey Feek of the country music duo Joey + Rory is continuing to fight an intense battle with cancer. The disease has ravaged her body and made her so weak that up until recently she was confined to her hospice bed. However, no matter how sick or tired she gets, she always has time to share a bedtime kiss with her daughter Indiana (Indy).

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer last year, three months after giving birth to Indy. She later underwent a radical hysterectomy and rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. The doctors, Joey, and her family thought she had beaten the disease. However, a mid-October PET scan revealed that her cancer had not only returned, but had also spread to her colon and continues to aggressively spread throughout her body. There was nothing left for the doctors to do. Yes, Joey could undergo more radiation and chemo, but it would only buy her time, not a cure. Therefore, with the help of her husband and duet partner Rory Feek, Joey made the heartbreaking decision to return to her home in hospice care to live out her final days with her family.

Rory frequently shares photos on the duo’s Facebook page, and on Thursday, December 17, he shared one of the sweetest photos yet. In honor of Indy turning 22 months old, Rory shared a collage of photos of her and her mama sitting on Joey’s bed, giving each other bedtime kisses before they turned in for the night. Rory captioned the photo by saying: “…birthday bed-time kisses from Mama. Good night little one, today you are 22 months old.”

Rory has also been sharing updates on Joey’s condition and their family on his blog This Life I Live. Most recently, Rory shared a post titled “a gift” where he discussed what fans are calling the Feek’s “Christmas miracle.” Again, Joey Feek has become very weak since she entered hospice care, and has spent the majority of her time in her bed, unable to walk. However, on Friday, December 11, Joey surprised her whole family when she not only got out of bed, but also walked from her bedroom to her living room to spend time with her family.

“Honestly, I think Joey just got tired of listening to life going on in the rooms outside of her bedroom and tired of wondering what it would be like to be part of it… and she just had her sister Jody help her out of bed and she came out and sat down and joined in for about an hour and a half,” Rory wrote.

“We had some friends and family here at the house with us, and when the door to her bedroom opened up and she came out in the living room, we almost couldn’t believe our eyes,” Feek continued. ” We were all so proud of her, but I think Joey was even more proud of herself.”

As if making her way to the living room wasn’t enough of a shock, what Joey did next left her family speechless. Joey gently slid from her seat on the couch to the floor where she could play with her daughter, something she hasn’t been able to do for a long time. As Rory described it, she was being a “mama again, playing with and teaching sign language to her little girl, like she’d been dreaming of being able to do.”
