‘Santa Claus’ Buys $79K Worth Of Christmas Presents For Strangers At Walmart

With all the chaos of the holiday season, people sometimes forget about being upset about Starbucks’ polar bear cookies, or mad at Reese’s misshapen Christmas trees, or even buying pills that allow you to poop glitter. There are those that remember the reason for the season and that it is “giving,” and that’s what one Good Samaritan did at a Pennsylvania Walmart when he bought $79,000 worth of gifts for strangers.

Making the Christmas miracle even better is that he did it anonymously.

As reported by Yahoo! News, the good Samaritan walked into a Walmart in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, just two days ago and did the good deed. Without giving his name, he paid off the remaining balance of every single customer who had items on layaway in the store.

In total, he paid $79,000 for all the items. He simply didn’t want to let it be known that it was he who did it.

The man who paid off everyone’s layaway and spent his money to spread some Christmas cheer has been dubbed “Santa B.” by the employees at the Walmart store. Steven Myers is the store’s manager and he was fortunate enough to meet the man.

“When I got to meet Santa yesterday, he had those rosy cheeks and he had the white beard, so I’m going to say Santa is real.”

Fox 11 reported that the generosity of Santa B. ended up paying for gifts that will help 200-300 area families this holiday season. Penny Geedy was one of those people and she could not have been more appreciative of what the kind man did for so many people.

“It’s great to see this. I was worried if I was going to get all my checks in time to pick up the presents.”

Myers said that this is not the first time the well-known, but not so known, Santa B. has done such a thing. It’s his way of showing appreciation and “taking care of the community,” and it’s believed that he did the same thing at the Walmart in Harrisburg last year.

So many would like to thank him and show their appreciation for his generosity, but it’s not what he is looking for.

Santa B. isn’t looking for recognition or to become famous. He doesn’t even expect news of his good deeds to get out, but the news does travel fast once people start realizing what has been done for them this Christmas.

Myers said that out of respect for Santa B.’s privacy and his wishes, they will not reveal his identity to anyone.

The manager of the Pennsylvania Walmart said that sure, Santa B. may not be the real big guy in red from the North Pole, but he does signify what the true Christmas spirit is all about. Santa Claus brings kindness, the spirit of giving, and smiles to so many children.

Sure, he may be bringing smiles to children by the gifts they will be receiving, but the smiles brought to the parents may be even bigger. Now, so many that were wondering how they’d even have enough money for presents for their children are blessed to know they can use that money for other things as well.

Santa B’s real name may never be known, but his actions will always be remembered. Walking into that Pennsylvania Walmart and paying $79,000 for the gifts of strangers is going to go a far this Christmas — and for a long time to come.
