Nicole Kidman Says She ‘Was A Baby’ When She Married Tom Cruise

Though she says she has no regrets about her marriage to Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman says she was a baby when she made the decision to marry him. Though there are obviously some things that Kidman is under a gag order from talking about, she seems to have fully moved on from that time in her life, and has put Scientology behind her.

While Nicole Kidman seems to be happy in her marriage to Keith Urban, according to the Inquisitr, Tom Cruise is in the process of hunting for a new wife, his fourth. Kidman was number two, and was followed by Katie Holmes, who has moved to New York with their daughter Suri to escape the strangle hold of Scientology from their lives. Cruise is now seeking someone “like Amal Clooney” who will take direction and follow the lead of Cruise, and the Scientology frontman, David Miscavige.

Us Weekly Magazine is reporting that Kidman continues to carry herself with grace when talking about her former husband.

“Any time you have a chance at something again is good, but each combination of people is different,” the Oscar winner, 48, told the paper in a piece published on Thursday, Dec. 10. “I was a baby when I married Tom, but I don’t regret any of it. But out of respect for Keith I tend not to discuss any of that now.”

Kidman says that after the split with Cruise was the loneliest time of her life.

“To be completely honest, I was running away from my life at that time,” she told the audience in October. “As an actor, the wonderful thing is you can become something else for a time. Out of that came work that was applauded so that was an interesting thing for me.”

Kidman told the Evening Standard that she is the happiest with her current husband, Keith Urban, and their two daughters than she has ever been in her adult life.

“A musician and an actress is kind of a great combo,” she muses. “Both gypsies, both artistic but not in the same field. He’s just a cool guy, he’s mellow, and I say that as a huge compliment.”

And unlike Cruise, who was rumored to have told children Conor and Isabella that their mother was a suppressive person, Kidman still speaks of Cruise fondly.

“She has maintained a dignified silence over her split from Cruise and his influence on their adopted children — particularly the part played by his belief in Scientology — and still speaks of him with affection. ‘Be the best you can be, not the worst, and think of the children,’ she says.”

And Kidman’s life is all about family these days, as her daughters get to spend time with their cousins, and travel with their parents, Kidman and Urban,

“We just hang out, eat, play,” says Kidman. “My sister has six children and they all come over, and my mum. We have big family Christmases that are never the same because you don’t have the patriarch of the family [my father] there any more. But it is what it is, isn’t it? It takes on a whole different meaning.

“But having been in the theatre, doing six nights and eight shows a week, I think Christmas has been well earned.”
