$3,350 Diamond Earrings: Duchess Kate Sports Gorgeous Jewels, Recycles Dress

Diamond earrings would usually be considered a pretty good accessory to distract from anyone’s outfit — but not for Duchess Kate, who recycled a dress she’d already worn in 2012, a couple of days ago in London.

Attending the Place2Be Headteacher Conference, Kate Middleton — who is a patron of the charity — wore a beautiful piece by British designer Matthew Williamson. She adorned it with a gorgeous pair of diamond earrings by Kiki McDonough, who was a favorite of Prince Williams’ late mother, Princess Diana.

The diamond earrings, priced on the designer’s website at $3,350 (£2,200) caught everyone’s attention but not enough to make onlookers forget they’d already seen that dress before. Duchess Kate is renowned for her excellent fashion taste, and it’s not the first time she’s worn the same outfit again.

As a fashion icon, she has no trouble looking dazzling in any outfit, and many people find her attitude refreshing in an industry that often takes itself too seriously. The pair of earrings, called the Lauren Yellow Gold Pave Diamond Leaf Earrings, were the perfect accessory to lighten up Kate’s grey dress.

The conference Kate attended was the occasion for a rare public appearance from the Duchess, but it’s not the first time she’s spoken out about mental health, an issue she is clearly very passionate about. Addressing the attendees, she said it was important for vulnerable young people to be supported as early as possible in order to avoid them later problems in life. Kate Middleton recognized she’d been extremely lucky to have had such a “wonderful and secure” childhood, as well as supportive parents and teachers.

“I often get asked why I decided to spend time highlighting the mental health of children,” she said. “I imagine my answer might be similar to many of yours. I know that I was lucky. My parents and teachers provided me with a wonderful and secure childhood where I always knew I was loved, valued and listened to.”

“But of course many children are not so lucky. Since beginning my work in areas like addiction, for example, I have seen time and time again that the roots of poor mental health in adulthood are almost always present in unresolved childhood challenges.”

Only a couple of days prior, Kate Middleton was seen at the annual Fostering Excellence Awards hosted by The Fostering Network.

This week wasn’t the first time Kate was seen recycling an outfit, as Redbook outlined. Kate Middleton has her favorite designers — and her favorite outfits! Often seen adorning Alexander McQueen’s pieces or Reiss, Kate likes to mix it up with some lesser-known designers, which always causes huge sales boosts as admirers decide they want to dress like Duchess Kate.

Aside from the gorgeous diamond earrings she wore this week, Kate Middleton usually impresses with her great choice of accessories. Mulberry is another of Kate’s favorites — from bags to dresses, she’s been a loyal ambassador of the Brit label since her university days. But the reason Kate’s fashion sense is so widely admired is because she doesn’t hesitate sporting a $35 Zara faux diamond necklace with a Roland Mouret-designed dress worth a few thousands dollars.

It’s not been all work and no play for Kate Middleton this week, as she went abseiling with Prince Williams in Wales, where they used to live while he was in the RAF. Rumors of a third pregnancy have started going around recently as Duchess Kate was caught hiding her stomach a few times and admirers of the royals know she is anxious to have more kids before she turns 35, in January of 2017.
