Chris Brown Delaying His Album To Avoid Clash With Rihanna? ‘Anti’ Rumored To Drop Next Week

Chris Brown and Rihanna may remain amicable exes despite their split in 2013, but did Chris Brown push back the release of his Royalty album in order to avoid clashing with ex-girlfriend Rihanna on the music charts?

Chris Brown has been busy promoting the impending release of his highly anticipated Royalty album for weeks, with Chris having told various outlets that the album would drop on November 27 after months of work on the project.

However, new rumors have surfaced suggesting that Chris Brown has “quietly” pushed back the release date for his album until December, prompting much speculation from fans regarding the last-minute delay.

As of yet, no official announcement from Chris Brown regarding the delay of his new album has made its way onto social media, leaving some fans confused as to the true release date for Royalty.

According to SingersRoom, Chris Brown has decided to delay Royalty for a few weeks because Chris is still working on new music.

Chris Brown took to Instagram earlier this week to share several now-deleted videos of himself singing and dancing along to his new music, including one track that appears to be aimed at Brown’s former relationship with Karrueche Tran.

While Chris made no announcement about the album’s delay and neglected to clarify whether or not the music he was teasing on Instagram would appear on his album, it appears Chris Brown is giving fans a much-needed inside look into his upcoming project while rumors continue to suggest that Brown didn’t want to compete with either Adele’s 25 album or ex Rihanna’s Anti album on the music charts.

Rumors of a clash between Rihanna and Chris Brown’s albums ignited earlier this week after an alleged source close to Rihanna revealed to The Sun that Anti is set for a November 27 release date, which closely follows Rihanna’s trend of dropping her albums in November.

According to Rihanna’s source, “Everyone expects [Anti] to be out next Friday,” noting that Rihanna will “have no problem competing with Chris [Brown]” on the Billboard music charts in the event their albums drop on the same day.

While Rihanna has neglected to confirm the release date rumors for her new album, Rihanna did tease the project’s impending release on Instagram when she instructed fans to visit a new website dedicated to teasing Anti‘s release.

Rihanna made headlines earlier this month after she announced her decision to back out of her scheduled performance for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in order to complete work on Anti, seemingly shooting down fans’ hopes of a 2015 release for the album.

Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, seemingly dispelled rumors of a 2015 release date for Rihanna’s Anti when he told The Sun that Rihanna is still working on recording new music for the album because Rihanna is “unhappy” with the current sound of the project.

Not long after rumors of a November release date for Anti began making headlines, reports began surfacing suggesting that Rihanna and Chris Brown are preparing to battle it out on the music charts to see who has the more successful album.

According to Hollywood Life, Rihanna’s Anti album will see an exclusive release on Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service on November 27 and then open up for a public release the following Friday on December 4.

While there seems to be a lot of confusion regarding exactly when Rihanna and Chris Brown are planning to drop their respective albums, it doesn’t appear that Brown intended to delay Royalty due to whispers of a November 27 release date for Rihanna’s Anti.
