Charlie Hunnam’s Secret For Sexy Shape In ‘Crimson Peak’ And ‘King Arthur’ Roles Revealed

Charlie Hunnam has a knack for keeping his fans excited and wanting more.

Do you miss the sexy motorcycle club president on Sons of Anarchy, Jax Teller? Make sure you go see your beloved Charlie Hunnam, who portrays Dr. Alan McMichael in the Victorian gothic horror film, Crimson Peak.

The 35-year-old actor plays the role of a New York-based, American ophthalmologist who has a crush on Edith Cushing, played by Mia Wasikowska. But, here’s the rub: instead, Edith Cushing marries Thomas Sharpe, played by Tom Hiddleston.

It must also be noted that the Sons of Anarchy actor turned down the offer to play Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey for the role in Crimson Peak. Fans shouldn’t worry – Charlie Hunnam has been spending lots of time in the gym to get in great shape for the role, so Hunnam fans will have plenty of opportunities to look at his sexy body.

“Charlie is a soft-spoken gentleman, but there’s also a bit of cowboy there,” Crimson Peak‘s costume designer Kate Hawley told InStyle.

“[Charlie Hunnam] is a bit like Steve McQueen — beautiful and very cool.”

Hawley was faced with the challenge of designing clothes for Charlie Hunnam, since the actor is way too muscular for the Crimson Peak era.

“Men of that era are slimmer and less built up than men today so he had to reshape his body slightly to make it more authentic to the period,” said Hawley, as reported by InStyle.

“He wasn’t doing modern workouts with a lot of heavy weightlifting,” the designer added.

She also noted that Charlie Hunnam did various exercises to reshape himself and “lose” that v-shape torso.

The reason Charlie Hunnam bulked up was for his role in Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur which is to be released in July, 2016. The director, Guy Ritchie, said Charlie Hunnam was too slim for the role, so the actor had to catch up and get in fighting shape, as reported by Fashion & Style.

The role demanded him to get in excellent shape fast, and are the three things he did to reach that goal.

1. According to IMDB, Charlie Hunnam promised himself to do 500 push-ups every day to “get into incredible shape for this film.” From the look of it, the actor kept his promise.

2. Charlie Hunnam revealed that he spent hours on YouTube watching interviews and fight footage of Ultimate Fighting Championship Irish featherweight Conor McGregor, as reported by Fashion & Style. The actor wanted to incorporate McGregor’s fighting style and his ultra-ripped physique into the role of Arthur in the movie.

3. When Guy Ritchie complained that Hunnam was too slim for the role of Arthur, the 35-year-old actor had an unusual suggestion to make regarding himself and fellow actors Henry Cavill and Jai Courtney, as reported by IMDB.

“Look, dude, you keep bringing this up, the physicality. Its obviously your primary concern. So if you want to do away with all this auditioning bollocks, I’ll fight those other two dudes. I know who they are. You can bring them both in here. I’ll fight them both. The one who walks out the door gets the job.”

In other news, Charlie Hunnam’s girlfriend, Morgana McNelis revealed the secret of dating the Sons of Anarchy actor for eight years. The couple has been dating since 2007, and here’s what the jewelry designer had to say about maintaining a long-term relationship like the one they share, as reported by Just Jared.

“I think the key to maintaining a good balance is creating a safe space within the relationship for both partners in which to grow and evolve. It’s very important to be present and participate in each other’s experiences so that falling in love doesn’t happen just once, it continues to happen over and over.”

Of course, the day Charlie Hunnam proposes to his girlfriend will be a sad day for Charlie fans worldwide.
