Dog Rescue: Homeless Dog Rescued Near Biohazard Disposal Company

In the dog rescue of Angelo, the organization Hope for Paws really had their work cut out for them. Like many of their other honorable rescues, they received numerous calls about the homeless dog running around in search of food. While many rescued dogs do surprisingly well on their own for a period of time, they eventually require the assistance of a human for both food and shelter.

In the video, Eldad Hagar and Lisa Chiarelli approach Angelo the dog in a dirty area by a biohazard disposal company. The conditions were poor and filled with thick dust and cobwebs, which are extremely unfavorable for a small homeless dog. As they got closer to the black dog, he became incredibly frightened and started barking loudly. After running away, he attempted to escape by climbing walls and running around the corner. Unfortunately, he managed to get away.

Rescue Dog Hiding

Undeterred by the temporary setback, Eldad and Lisa returned the next day in order to gain Angelo’s trust. As they arrived, Angelo was hiding under what appears to be a pipe near the same area as he was at during the first day. Still fearful, Angelo ran away and attempted to escape the area again. In order to contain and rescue him, Eldad and Lisa entered from opposite sides so the dog could not get away this time. Fortunately for the group, Lisa was able to get a collar safely on Angelo.

After a few minutes, Angelo started to trust Eldad and Lisa and allowed them to pet him. After a little more time, Angelo allowed them to pick him up and carry him out. Many homeless dogs develop a deep fear of humans because of neglect and abuse. Many times, it only takes a short time of feeding or petting to convince them you are there to help. For a puppy that may have never had a name, Lisa named the rescue dog Angelo.

Dog Rescue Microchip

During rescues, Hope for Paws scans each dog to see if it has a microchip in order to potentially identify it and find the former owner. Unfortunately, most rescued dogs do not have a microchip, and were abandoned as opposed to lost by a loving family. In the video, they think Angelo was only on the streets for a few weeks. While this is still an extraordinarily long time for a small and frightened dog, some of their other rescue dogs were on the streets alone for much longer.

During Angelo’s first bath, Eldad captions the video as saying he “washed away all the remnants of his life on the streets.” For a dog that probably never had a human friend, Eldad also began teaching the tiny puppy about friendship and playing. While many of these stories still have an unhappy ending, Angelo found his foster home a few short days later. He even met his foster siblings Frankie, Lola, and Benji.

The video concludes with a happy rescued dog with a wagging tail and content face with his new friends. While Angelo is still waiting to be fully adopted, he is in a much better situation at his foster home.

As One Green Planet notes, Angelo is available for adoption via Shelter Hope Pet Shop in Valencia, California. For rescued dogs, finally finding a permanent home is known as a forever, or furever, home. In addition to saving little Angelo, Hope for Paws has rescued numerous other scared, lonely, and homeless dogs. Their goal is clearly stated on their webpage.

“Our fostered animals are a part of our family and are treated as such. Too often, people undervalue their furry family members and abandon them in their backyards, on the streets or at the shelters. These animals die from starvation, abuse, and euthanization because of the overcrowding at the shelters. Pets are not items that can be thrown away or exchanged for younger models.”
