Christina Sethi: Elder Care Worker Commits Shocking Sexual Abuse Of 101-Year-Old Woman, 2 Other Patients

Christina Sethi, a 25-year-old worker at an elder care facility in the English seaside city of Torquay, said that she loved her boyfriend and would do anything for him — a promise that apparently included sexually abusing elderly patients at the home where she was employed, filming her twisted acts and sending her lover the videos.

The Plymouth Crown Court was told by prosecutors that Sethi committed the shocking sex assaults on her helpless victims, who suffered from dementia, because her 32-year-old boyfriend got a sexual thrill from watching the videos. But detectives on the case said that Sethi herself also appeared to derive pleasure from committing her perverted assaults.

The 32-year-old boyfriend, not publicly named by the court, was arrested as well, but conspiracy charges against him were dropped.

Sethi’s victims included two elderly women — one of whom was 101-years-old — and a man in his eighties.

She selected her victims because, the court heard, she reasoned that dementia patients would not recall being molested by Sethi. But what the devoted, but demented, girlfriend did not understand was that computers never forget — even if a user deletes a file.

The caregiver’s crimes were discovered when she sold a computer to a man who discovered deleted videos on the computer’s hard drive depicting Sethi’s sexual assaults on the elderly patients, assaults which happened between January of 2014 and May of 2015.

Calling her crimes “horrific abuse of three vulnerable and elderly victims who were in a care home under your care,” Judge Richard Stead told Sethi, “You humiliated three elderly people who trusted you.”

According to reports in the British media, the videos showed Sethi inserting a vibrator into the anus of a woman in her eighties, who, though she was unable to protest due to her diminished cognitive abilities, appeared aware that she was being violated.

The videos also showed Sethi folding the genital area and breasts of the 101-year-old woman in her care, investigators said, who also appeared confused but aware that something was wrong at one point asking Sethi, “What are you doing to me?”

Though it was not recorded in the videos, Sethi also later admitted assaulting a married man in his eighties, who was both blind and a dementia sufferer, fondling his genitals after bathing him.

“Sethi committed crimes that most ordinary people could never comprehend. This depraved individual carried out shocking acts of abuse and grossly abused her position at the care home,” said Devon and Cornwall Police Detective Ed Wright.

“She committed these atrocious acts on the very people she had been trusted to care for and targeted their vulnerabilities in order to satisfy her own sexual deviance,” Wright added.

In a similar case in the United States, a nursing home worker in Texas was arrested in May after he was caught allegedly half-naked and sexually assaulting an elderly resident.

Christina Sethi, who had no previous criminal record, was sentenced this week to 10 years behind bars.
