Zayn Malik Signs With RCA And Breaks 1D Fans’ Hearts: Why He’ll Probably Be Successful
Zayn Malik just broke hundreds of thousands of fangirl hearts by signing with RCA. It means that the One Direction breakup is now official, with little hope of a reunion as fans have prayed for.
The former One Direction singer announced the move to RCA via Twitter. The account featured an image of the 22-year-old signing his official record contract. “I guess I never explained why I left,” wrote Zayn. “It was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who I really am!”
Malik insists that one of the major reasons for his sudden departure from the group One Direction was a lack of musical creativity. Others believe that a cheating scandal played a larger role. However, as Zayn and his girlfriend Perrie Edwards are still together, it seems to no longer be a matter of concern.

Zayn Malik parted ways with his former band mates back in March, throwing the entire fandom into confusion and devastation. The remaining quartet of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan were forced to finish their tour without him. With Malik no longer at their Syco record label, it’s most definite that any future music will be just the four of them.

Unbiased ears concede that Zayn Malik offered the strongest vocals in the entire group. Without him, the musical direction (no pun) of the pop stars will be forever altered. A weak album and lackluster new music could spell disaster; there’s ALWAYS a new “It” group or solo pop artist on the horizon. And fangirls, for all the declarations of loyalty, aren’t ashamed to outgrow or outright dump groups like One Direction.
On the flip-side, things might actually turn out to be more promising for Zayn. For starters, he appears to have dumped the unpopular Naughty Boy before moving on to RCA. There he shares a label with music stars such as Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, and Miley Cyrus among others. Apparently, Simon Cowell himself had a hand in the move, which the Mirror writes, “keeps [Zayn Malik] in the Sony family”.
It also suggests he’ll be in at a label capable of getting the best out of the young singer while heavily promoting him.

It’s clear that Malik wants to make mature, contemporary R&B music. The shift would certainly suggest a different target audience than his band mates, one that would not put him in direct competition with One Direction.
Individually speaking, what Zayn has going for him is a strong, soulful voice. Song choice and quality will be key. If he pulled this off, his success could stun former fans hoping his career goes off the rails…if only so he’ll return to his former band mates.

For now, Zayn seems pleased with the move, which he says will give him the chance to make “real music”. Fangirls who still resent his departure lashed out on Twitter, declaring that One Direction is real music.
