Bruce Springsteen Wows Patrons Of Wonder Bar

What may have been an otherwise normal night of bar-hopping for some New Jersey night-crawlers, turned into a night they may never forget. Bruce Springsteen surprised patrons of Asbury Park’s Wonder Bar with an impromptu performance Saturday, lasting well into the night.

The Boss joined friend and musician Joe Grushecky on stage, and proceeded to wow those in attendance with a set of 15 songs that lasted for more than two hours.

Once a relatively common practice, Springsteen made regular unannounced appearances at New Jersey bars, exciting unsuspecting customers with his legendary tunes. But, over the past several years, those appearances have become more of a rarity. Saturday night was an exception, and fans couldn’t get enough of Springsteen.

The internet was ablaze with reports of the Springsteen surprise, as patrons of the Wonder Bar took to social media to report the experience.

“It was thrilling,” said Debbie DeLisa, owner of the Wonder Bar in an interview with CNN.

“It was a magical night.”

Springsteen’s set included such classics as “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” “Pumping Iron,” “Because the Night,” “Pink Cadillac,” and “Light of Day,” according to USA Today.

Those inside the Wonder Bar weren’t the only ones treated to the Springsteen performance. Due to the rapid spread of news of the show, listeners blanketed sidewalks outside the bar and spilled into the street, all in the hope of hearing some music from the Grammy-winning rock and roller. Springsteen addressed the fans that stood outside in the hot summer night air to listen, dedicating the song “Light of Day” to them according to NJ.com.

“People out in the street, this is for you.”

But the surprise performance isn’t the first Springsteen sighting this month. He jumped on stage at a Brian Wilson show on July 1, and accompanied him on “Barbara Ann” and “Surfin’ USA,” according to Springsteen’s website.

And the surprises may keep on coming. For the past couple of months, rumors have been swirling about a possible new album from Springsteen to be coming soon.

“I heard that Bruce Springsteen has finished recording his new album and it is now in the mixing stage. The best part of it all was that I was told it would be released this summer!” said Brandon Thompson on BlogItAllNight.

There has been no confirmation of a new album from Springsteen publicly, nor are there any (official) tour dates scheduled at this time.
