Minka Kelly Insists She’s Not Dating Sean Penn, Explains Herself On Social Media
Minka Kelly would like you to know that she is most definitely not dating Sean Penn, despite what the press would have you believe.
The actress took to social media Wednesday to put to bed any rumors that she and Sean Penn are a thing, People is reporting.

So why did the normally very private Minka take to Twitter to discuss her personal life? Because rumors have been flying that the two are a couple ever since they were photographed together coming out of The French Laundry, a California restaurant. It seems the two were just there as part of a larger group for Minka’s 35th birthday — a group that just happened to include Sean Penn.

Minka and Penn’s birthday dinner was actually several weeks ago, so it’s unclear why Minka waited until this week to address the rumors of her relationship with Sean. At the time, Us Weekly reported that an unnamed source close to the two had described the meal, which Sean paid for (more like, he paid dearly for; the nine-course tasting menu will set you back about $270, not counting wine), as a “first date.”
“That was their first date, but it was a group setting,” the insider tells Us of the birthday feast at French Laundry. “It was more of a ‘let’s see how this goes.’ Minka and Sean got along great and had a great time, but it’s unclear where it’s going.”
It’s safe to say that where it’s going is exactly nowhere.
Up until just a couple of weeks before Sean and Minka’s not-a-date, Sean was engaged to actress Charlize Theron. However, Charlize called it off in mid-June, according to this Inquisitr report.
For her part, Minka Kelly has been pretty tight-lipped about her personal life, although reports have linked the Parenthood actress with baseball player Derek Jeter and Captain America leading man Chris Evans.
