Mario Lopez Under Attack After Caught Smoking A Cigar While Holding Toddler Son

Mario Lopez is amid controversy after he posed for a picture smoking a cigar while his son, 20-month-old Dominic, was sitting on his lap. The Extra host and Saved By The Bell star received immediate backlash after sharing the picture on his social media account, which has now been deleted.

Some fans were outraged that Mario Lopez would smoke a cigar near his toddler, and others defended the Extra host.

One Twitter user wrote, “Hey non smokers, GET OVER YOURSELF! smoking a cigar in front of your child won’t damage him. Good for Mario Lopez for creating memories.”

And another wrote, “Not a big deal ppl!”

Another fan didn’t see it as a small deal at all, tweeting, “Don’t smoke in front of the baby.”

While another tweeted, “Ok you just lost major points for smoking in front of your child.”

Here’s the photo of Mario smoking a cigar near his son.

The picture was taken while Mario was celebrating the Fourth of July with his family. Lopez was with his wife, Courtney, and his daughter, Gia, as well as his son, Dominic, for the Independence Day weekend. The family of four were seen out and about enjoying the sun in Malibu.

While Mario didn’t exactly address the fan backlash, he did post a picture on his Instagram on Sunday. The photo was a picture of his dog, with the caption, “If you don’t have anything nice to say then just be quiet. It’s better to be a king of your silence than a prisoner of your words.”

Although some have questioned his parenting skills after he posted the photo, Lopez has always been very open about being a family man. Back in 2014, Lopez said he couldn’t imagine his life without his kids.

Back then, he told People, “I never knew I had such feelings inside of me. No matter how rough my day has been, when I get home and hear my children yell, ‘Daddy!’ I feel so much better.”

He continued, “I always have breakfast with the kids. Courtney usually cooks a breakfast of waffles and oatmeal, and we all seem to be in a good mood. Both of the kids giggle, and it’s so much fun watching Dominic eat his baby food. He just loves it, and he’s getting chubby.”

As for playing around with his kids, Mario said, “Being with Gia and Dominic gives me the chance to be a kid all over again. All of the sudden, I have two amazing playmates. I can’t imagine my life without children.”

What do you think? Was it a bad move for Lopez to smoke his cigar in front of Dominic?
