Orange Is the New Black star Ruby Rose is ready to give the Fast & Furious franchise another shot.
After she was turned down by the executive producers of Furious 7 because of her appearance, Ruby Rose, who plays Litchfield inmate Stella Carlin in the third season of Orange Is the New Black, confirmed that she is auditioning for a part on Fast & Furious 8. She spoke to OK! Magazine about why she was turned down in the first place.
“My last audition before Orange was for Fast And Furious 7, but they didn’t want me because one of the main guys said I looked like Justin Bieber!”
This confession has led to an exchange of pleasant repartee between the two celebrities on Twitter.

But now, the Orange Is the New Black star is in talks with Universal Pictures for what she describes a “sexy” role in the latest installment of the action film franchise. She told Australia’s Today Show about a small amount of awkwardness surrounding her possible new role, and her knowledge of why she was looked over the first time.
“It’s so funny because now I’m in talks with that movie and I haven’t mentioned to them that I know.”
But landing a role in the Fast & Furious franchise is not the only thing on Rose’s mind. According to the Daily Mail, she is also gearing up for a part in the Australian prison drama, Wentworth.
Before Rose joined Orange Is the New Black‘s cast, she starred in a short film called Break Free, which went viral immediately after its release on YouTube. At the time of writing, the video has received more than 8 million hits. In an interview with the Guardian, Rose spoke about the way she perceives her identity and the reasons she thinks Break Free reached out to so many people.
“You can watch it both ways: you can watch it from the end to the beginning, and it’s exactly the same as watching it from the start to the end, depending if you’re a guy that feels like he’s in a woman’s body or a woman that’s in a guy’s body.”
Whether we see Ruby Rose in Fast & Furious 8 remains to be seen, but her gender-fluid, uninhibited personality has already won her scores of fans. Orange Is the New Black is only a stepping stone in a career that promises a lot more.
