‘Grand Theft Auto V’ Recreates ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air’

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air may have been off air for almost two decades now, but it still remains one of the most beloved of comedies. The opening theme is one that many still rap, and fans rejoice when it is played at parties and in clubs. Grand Theft Auto V has now recreated the opening credits, turning Will Smith into a dangerous criminal rather than the sweet boy from Philadelphia.

It all starts off relatively calm and similar to the original opening. Franklin from Grand Theft Auto V looks like he is supposed to be sitting on a throne, circling around in a way similar to Will Smith in the original opening credits. It is during the basketball scene that it all starts taking a dangerous twist from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Complex Pop Culture points out that the end is very different, with Franklin walking into the Rockford Hills mansion, rather than staying outside the door like Will does in the original credits.

The video has been posted on Facebook, with a side by side comparison, so fans get to see the differences between the original Fresh Prince and the Grand Theft Auto remake. However, Uproxx found a version that is just the new version, which has been included below to give viewers a full feel.

This definitely shows the way computer technology has adapted over the years. It is also clearly done by fans of The Fresh Prince because the backdrops, clothing and sceneries are all very similar to the original credits. A lot of hard work and attention has gone into the show.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air first aired in 1990, and the show ran for six years; although, for many fans, it seemed to have gone on for much longer. It was one of Will Smith’s first acting jobs, and he quickly showed his comedic nature. Since then, he has gone on to star in a number of high-budget movies, making a switch to action and storytelling. The likes of Independence Day and Men In Black quickly followed. Of course, during the run of Fresh Prince, he did show his acting range. There were a number of sad episodes, especially the series finale when everyone was moving on from Bel Air.

There has been no comment from Will or his reps yet over the new version of the credits. It is possible that he will see the amusing side of the newly created Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
