Harry Styles Claims 1D Shows Are ‘The Best’ Without Zayn Malik

Harry Styles has finally opened up about life on the road without Zayn Malik. It is now 100 days since Malik walked out on Styles and his pals in the middle of an 80-date world tour. Until now, Harry has preferred to keep his feelings about Malik’s departure firmly under wraps, but Harry has now spoken up. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Styles has opened up about Malik’s departure, praised One Direction’s fans, and spoke about 1D’s forthcoming album.

Styles has claimed that Malik’s departure has made virtually no difference. Harry even goes as far as to say that One Direction’s shows since Malik quit are “some of the best” they have ever done. Harry says that the only real changes have been the fact that other band members have had to sing parts of songs that were previously covered by Zayn.

Harry has even claimed that they haven’t even had to change the set list since Malik left because “the other guys have picked up Zayn’s parts. We all know the songs well enough to do that.” Harry reserved special praise for Liam Payne who has picked up the high parts previously covered by Zayn, especially in songs like “Story of My Life.”

Harry said, “It would be pretty devastating if we took that song out. Liam stepped up to do the high notes. He kicks them in the bo****ks every show. He doesn’t hold back.”

Harry praised One Direction’s fans for their reaction and support in the wake of Zayn’s departure. Harry said that “the fans have shown, as they have a million times, that they’re incredible and so supportive.”

Styles teased that by way of thanks for their support, One Direction fans can expect some new music in the very near future. Harry revealed that One Direction are currently recording their fifth album, which will be released by the end of the year.

“The songs are coming together quickly, so we’re buzzing with the new stuff. It carries a slightly new identity, but I think it’s an obvious change from [Four] in a positive way. We’ve branched out and worked with different writers, and we’ve got some great songs.”

Harry gave no clue as to the future of One Direction after the release of the next album. There has been constant speculation that the current tour could be the band’s last. Styles and other band members have been linked with numerous projects away from 1D. If there are plans beyond this year, Harry Styles gave no clue as to what they might be.
